Hello !

I'm Tammy, and I would be eternally grateful for you to help me release my second album 'CASTRATI MEOW'.

THE SONGS 

The songs on 'CASTRATI MEOW' begun over jam sessions in my friend Amanda Kerr's (Private Stash, Murphnick) backyard. I had taken a lengthy hiatus from music and singing with Amanda reinvigorated me, enabling me to get back to songwriting in a more wholesome and organic way. Having someone else to sing with as I wrote the music gave my lyrics extra resonance and weight and was just more fun. Each week different friends would turn up and we would play a mix of each others' songs as well as covers and these evenings made me realise how much I had missed having music (and people to play music with :) in my life. 

A collection of miscellaneous snaps taken in Amanda (and Sean's) backyard and in the 'fungalow' where we would retreat to in the colder months. 

After our jam sessions I would then take my songs home and play them to my partner Stuart. We would fine tune the arrangements, lyrics and melodies and returning to these jams meant the songs on 'CASTRATI MEOW' have been finessed in a way by a cast of musicians I feel very fortunate to have worked and recorded with. This process has culminated in what  I feel are my best songs yet, and a big reason why I wish to have my album pressed on vinyl. 

RECORDING 

The majority of the album has been recorded. Amanda, Marcel Borrack (Marcel Borrack TD Band, Minibikes) and I went to Sing Sing Studios and recorded 7 tracks live in a day with Matt Voigt (Cat Power - Moon Pix) in December 2022 (yes it's taken awhile to get it all together but it is definitely coming together now :). 

Stuart and I are currently adding overdubs where appropriate to these songs and will continue to do so over the next few months. Two songs from this recording session 'You Will Always Follow You' (which Stuart added additional production too) and 'Leo' (videoclip is below) have already been released as singles. Stuart and I have also recorded three instrumentals that will be on the album. They are simultaneously moody, hopeful and uplifting, which in a way sums up the twists and turns my new album takes. There is a relaxed flow that emanates throughout the album reflecting the way in which these songs were created.

Reoccurring themes on 'Castrati Meow' are centred around interpersonal dynamics, loss, evolution and renewal combined with the passing of time. Making peace with yourself whatever situation you may be in is also there, as is the sometimes transient nature of friendships and relationships. A few significant people slipped out of my life whilst writing these songs (a close friend, my grandfather who Leo is named after and about) and I channelled some of my grief through this collection of songs. Not in a morbid kind of way more in an introspective, reflective, accepting way.

WHY CROWDFUNDING, WHY NOW?.

As a self-managed artist I'll be releasing my album myself, and have tried my best to raise what I can but vinyl pressing ain't cheap!. I was fortunate whilst in royalchord that our music was released on different labels who also covered such things as pressing CDs etc but that was awhile ago now and the whole music industry has changed ...

So whilst the album will be available on Bandcamp and other digital streaming services, this campaign is to help with the cost of a vinyl pressing. CASTRATI MEOW will be available digitally prior to the vinyl coming out, the vinyl will be released April - May 2025.

This is basically a pre-order campaign .… so when you pledge to receive the album (and any other rewards) you’ll get it sent to you before it’s released to the wider world….. You’ll be one of the first to hear it AND you’ll be one of the absolute legends that helps me get my work out into the world.

Even if you aren't interested in purchasing a vinyl version of the album, pre-ordering the digital version or any of the other rewards offered via this campaign will allow me to fund the vinyl release, for which I'll be eternally grateful.

It's an all-or-nothing crowdfunding campaign.... if we dont reach the $5k target your credit card doesn't get charged, and I dont get anything (I am feeling quietly confident it will happen so just saying :).

I know we are not living in easy times and any support that you can give to my campaign will be greatly appreciated. I just want to keep making, writing, recording and performing music. Being able to release my album on vinyl means alot to me and signifies what I feel is a very important album for me to put out into the world at this stage in my career. It'd also make me super proud to achieve this life long goal together :)

THE BUDGET

PRESSING THE ALBUM ON VINYL ($3195)

There is something so beautiful and intimate about vinyl, and I just love the way it sounds and feels. The record will be pressed on black vinyl with a white paper inner sleeve and printed cardboard outer sleeve. 

MASTERING THE ALBUM FOR VINYL ($1540)

Yep this special format requires it's own kind of specific mastering. 

I have rounded my campaign up at $5000 for additional costs such as Pozible fees, transaction fees and additional shipping costs..

TIMELINE
