INTRODUCTION:

My name is Mark Nunnari, and I am the Founder of my own Indepent Film Production Company titled: Brutally Honest Productions and it is my ultimate goal as an experienced Writer/Director to introduce the audience to an enticing piece of Cinema that is Inspiring, Entertaining, and just plain Different.

It is my belief that the major problem with Commercial Cinema today is that Commercial Filmmakers are constantly subjecting the audience to the same mundane piece of Cinema, and the only thing that they're doing differently is changing the film's Title, and the Name of the Main Character.

Whether it's on Social Media or through Editorials found in Tabloid Newspapers, the mainstream audience have voiced their concerns that they are sick and tired of being subjected to the same repetitive piece of Commercial Cinema, this is why I intend to make my mark in this Competitive Industry, starting with my debut Feature Film: BRUTALLY HONEST LOVE.

Phase 1 of Principle Photography on my debut feature had started on the 24th of June, 2016 and ended sometime near the End of July. This was funded with a small Personal Loan and 2 Credit Cards.

My GOAL is to raise $10,000 to help me fund Phase 2 of Principle Photography on my Debut Feature Film, and complete Production on BRUTALLY HONEST LOVE.

SYNOPSIS:

After being left heartbroken by the woman of his dreams, a socially awkward Pop Culture Nerd (JONATHAN), strikes up an intimate relationship with a Drug Abusing Escort (LOUISE), which takes him on a life changing Journey of Self Discovery with the Hope of a Second Chance at Love.

THE CHARACTERS:

LOUISE (Madison Lee) personifies everything that is wrong with Gen Y and Z sub culture. From drug and alcohol abuse, social media addiction, and the absolute hunger for fame and material wealth for all the wrong reasons. Having grown up in a working class household, Louise decides she doesn’t want the “ordinary” life and desires something more lavish and will do whatever it takes to get what she wants.

JONATHAN (Louis Cummings) being apart of the Nerdboy Fandom and Pop Culture, exemplifies a society that is far from perfect. It’s a society that is riffed with bullying, poor self-esteem and sexual frustration. After being left broken-hearted by the woman of his dreams, he seeks solace in his frequent visits to Louise who provides him with both the Physical and Emotional warmth that he feels has been missing throughout most of his adult life.

Jonathan’s homosexual best friend, CAMERON (Campbell McGillivray) represents the heavily judgmental universe of ‘Barbies and Kens”. With their fake tans, bleach blonde hair and intoxicated fueled sense of self-importance, these “Jersey Shore” wannabes are quick to criticise and put down anybody they believe is “outside” of their norm. Although he can be rather crude and hard to handle, Cameron only wants what's best for his best friend, and hates to see him fall into a downward spiral.

Fig A.  Jonathan (Louis Cummings) inspects an artwork of sentimental value inside Louise's (Madison Lee) Apartment.

Jonathan’s original love interest, KATHERINE (Isobel Eveleigh) is a young adult who has freed herself from a conservative upbringing. She is caught in the crossfire of all these sub cultures, whilst trying to find her own identity. Although she feels as if she behaved in a manner that was Polite and to the Point when it came to turning down Jonathan's request for taking their friendship into something more intimate, she feels as if Jonathan's insubordinate nature could get in the way of moving on from the incident and tarnish the empowering friendship they once had.

Louise's older sister, COURTNEY (Emma Monk) is another key figure in the film who has a major impact on the two leads. Having been obliged to play "mother-hen" to her younger sister Louise from a young age due to their working class parents's continual absence, despite the fact that Louise is in her early-twenties, things still haven't changed. Although they love each other dearly, and the door to her home is always open, Courtney's relationship with her younger sister is rather convoluted and complicated.

Fig B.  Older Sister, Courtney (Emma Monk) fights an uphill battle as she tirelessly tries to persuade her younger sister away from a downward spiral into Drug Abuse.

I want to make this movie because its always been a dream of mine to write and develop a full length Romantic Dramedy that travels on its own tangent and stands out from other Romantic Dramedies. The film itself will cover various themes that is usually covered in a lot of famous romantic comedies such as: falling in love, falling out of love, dealing with rejection, heartbreak, and everything else in between, but unlike other films of a similar genre, it will include references to the deep, dark, underbelly of Gen Y and Z subculture.

Budget Overview

All money raised through the Campaign will be exclusively used for ALL necessary expenses associated with Phase 2 of Principle Photography of BRUTALLY HONEST LOVE. I conducted Phase 1 of Principle Photography back in June and July 2016, this Phase of filming was self funded with a small Personal Loan and 2 Credit Cards. Because I was funding the film with my own money, I gave myself an ultimatum to be as RESOURCEFUL as possible as I needed to make sure that I had enough funds to carry me through a 4 week film shoot. During Phase 2 of Principle Photography, I'll be using funds that will be kindly pledged to me from Family, Friends, and frequent Visitors to Pozible, this will force me to be even more RESOURCEFUL when Phase 2 comes about.

WHERE WILL THE FUNDS BE USED:

1. Professional Crew: I am very fortunate to be working with a phenominal team of Professionals who all have almost 2 Decades of Experience in the Industry between all of them. When you watch either the carefully crafted TRAILERS or one of my 4 PREVIEWS, what you the viewer will see is the hard work and dedication brought to the project in areas such as Camera, Sound, and of course Hair and Makeup, and my crew are definitely worth their pirce tags.

2. Locations: $1000 seems like a small amount to put aside for the costs associated with Location Hire, but it's still doable. Fortunately for my Production, a lot of Expensive Locations that was required for filming has already been used and paid for during Phase 1 of Principle Photography. The locations that are required for Phase 2 are mostly outdoor areas that are owned by various Municipal Councils, who allow a small crew like mine permits to film on their properties, FREE OF CHARGE. Other locations that we needed are more Residential Locations such as Homes, Apartments, Villas, and these are sourced through the Cast and Crew's family and friends. The only locations that we need and would most likely need to pay for are Private Function Rooms located inside Pubs and Hotels, to film a BAR and a NIGHTCLUB scene.

3. Contingency: Unexpected Costs can arise during filming, and we need to be ready for it. $1,000 is about 10% of the Film's Budget that the Production will use in case of a last minute expense, or if a Problem were to arise.

4. Catering: This is self explanatory. I can't expect my Cast and Crew to perform at their best if they're not being well fed and Hydrated. A $500 Catering Budget will feed my Cast and Crew for $30 a Day over the 3 Week Period that Phase 2 of Principle Photography takes place. The benefit of having a small crew of less than 10 people per day means that expenditure on Catering can be kept to a minimum, but it's enough to afford a lot of freshly prepared sandwiches, filtered water, and fruit baskets for the Cast and Crew to enjoy.

5. Pozible's Fees: Pozible will be entitled to 5% of the Production's Budget if the Campaign reaches its target, and I need to make sure that I factor this in also, and it's a well deserved reward for all the hard work and support that the staff gives Creatives such as myself.

6. Insurance: Public Liability Insurance is very important for Film Directors of all Skill Levels and for Productions of all Sizes. $500 will provide me with up to 20 Million Dollars in Cover in case of any accidental damages to Private or Public Property, and in the unfortunate event that a member of the General Public were to injure themselves on my set if through no fault of our own.
