BREAKING POINT SYNOPSIS:
Julian, a distant man in his 30s, seems to be at the end of his ability to care about anything left in his life including his goldfish, wonders through his day struggling to find any meaning. He clings to a voicemail from a woman who needs him to pick up a present for her daughter, as we quickly understand his relentless nothingness drives him to the breaking point of no return.
Across town, John, an Asian man in his 30s, is struggling to care for his father who has dementia, while meeting all the requirements of his busy full-time job as a lawyer.
Throughout the day, they nearly miss each other as John’s father’s relentless calls, his flighty caregiver and demands of his job push him to the limits. As their struggle leads them to a cliff edge at the same time, what will we learn about their real struggle that drove them there and what will we learn about ourselves along the way.

Lochie was awarded a scholarship for an Accelerated Degree to SAE Film Institute in Melbourne in 2022. After being nominated for an AACTA in 2023 and various other short films picked up for film festival distribution, Lochie was the first recipient for a Grant Program under Australian Production House which sees his final capstone piece for SAE Institute awarded a small financial grant, mentoring from industry award winning greats like Director Kriv Stenders (RED DOG), Production Designer Ben Bangay (WARNIE), Script Editor Chris Anastassiades (WOG BOY, HIGH GROUND), Lighting Production Ryan Fish (OFFSPRING), Hair & Makeup Daphne Goulter (SKIT THIS), Sound Designer Jack McCulloch (CERULEAN BLUE) and Tier 1 Film Festival distribution.
Lochie has 12yrs of acting experience working on sets such as NEIGHBOURS, SKIT THIS, and various commercials for AFL and more. He has been involved in various other award winning short films since 2010 including MR STOWLICKER and GO BACK TO BED, he also wrote, directed and edited the AACTA nominated documentary RUTH & JOHN.
BREAKING POINT is Lochies final short piece for highly acclaimed film festivals like Cannes, Sundance, MIFF and Berlin.

Budget Overview
BREAKING POINT has been awarded a $2000 financial grant by Australian Production House. The remaining funding for the budget is $10,000. These funds will be put towards professional sound design, professional lighting design, set design and marketing. Post has already been covered.
