Bloom Shop has grown from op shop events run from Aster Store in 2020-2021! 

Founder Zara, a veteran opshopper, identified the need for reasonably priced inner-Brisbane op shops. Through receiving a mass of donations through her consignment store, she started running pop up op shop events from her West End store in 2020-2021, with great success and profits benefiting local charities such as Sisters Inside, Asylum Seeker Resource Centre and Lebanese Red Cross: 

Zara aims to run her op shop with a resell/recycle rate of 90%, compared to the reported Australian average of only 20%. Forging a career in circular economy and textile recycling, she felt perfectly positioned to open an op shop that could not only provide affordable pricing, but also create a system for recycling and repurposing these items as well! 

Bloom Op Shop plans to open a pop up location in Inner-City Brisbane, before settling on a permanent space. Offering 3 tiers of pricing including a 'new in' section with nothing over $15, a $2 section and a pay-per-kilo section (the latter doesn't permanently currently exist in our proposed area of Brisbane as far as our research can find!)

Bloom Op Shop profits will benefit local charities and we aim to sell or recycle 90% of our donations, and we are very grateful for any support (financial or even sharing!) that helps us open this op shop of our dreams!

Our total budget for this project is $2500, covering 1 month of rent at a local pop up space in inner-city Brisbane and Pozible fees! The plan is to spend a few months in a short-term space finding our feet, before settling in a permanent space!
All sales (minus wages, utilities and rent) will be donated to our quarterly chosen charity. Thank you for giving us a little leg up to open one of the best/more affordable op shops in Inner Brisbane!
