HOW IT WORKS:
1) Each event showcases three emerging local charities, carefully chosen as organisations creating solutions to complex social issues in our communities.
2) Supported by the 10x10 founders, each event is planned and hosted by a fresh committee of 10. Each committee member hosts 10 guests at the event, bringing together over 100 people who each contribute $100 or more, raising $10,000 at least!
3) Each charity has five minutes to pitch in the style of the popular UK television show "The Dragon’s Den" and are then questioned by a special guest Dragon about their cause and business model.
4) The amount you donate through Pozible in advance is turned into vouchers for 'Charity Dollars' in increments of $50. After hearing the pitches, you choose the organisations you most want to support. Many people want to support all three charities so they contribute $150 or more. If your employer offers match funding for charitable donations your impact will be doubled.
5) All costs of each event are covered by event sponsors, to ensure that ALL funds raised on the night go directly to the three charities.

THE CHARITIES
10x10 is really excited to be working with three fantastic charities for the event on 21 April 2016:
batyr is a for purpose organisation that focuses on preventative education in the area of young people’s mental health. We provide programs that train young people to speak about their personal experience with mental ill health and start a conversation in their community. batyr also runs programs in schools and universities using young speakers with a lived experience of mental ill health to engage, educate and empower other young people to reach out for support a wide range of mental health services around them.
Despite 1 in 4 young people suffering a mental health issue by the end of adolescence, mental health issues are not openly discussed and remain the ‘elephant in the room’. Mental ill health holds a stigma that prevents open and frank exchanges and is a barrier to young people getting the help they need. batyr speakers share their life experiences of issues such as depression, suicide, anxiety, stress, sexual assault, eating disorders, bullying and personal health. They discuss the first hand benefits of reaching out, what avenues of support helped them and show students they are not alone and help is always available.
The HIV AIDS Legal Centre (HALC) is a not-for-profit, specialist community legal centre, and the only one of its kind in Australia. As lawyers we tackle the severe stigma and discrimination that remains associated with HIV, and provide specialist support to deal with the particular issues that HIV and the law create.
While HIV is now considered a chronic, manageable condition, the social stigma and discrimination associated with the condition remain a fact of life for many with HIV and the law still poses a significant barrier to people with HIV carrying on their lives on an equal basis with others.
The HIV/AIDS Legal Centre provides a free service for people with HIV related legal matters, our core funding is for providing assistance to residents of NSW only. Unfortunately because our core funding is for NSW residents we need to turn interstate clients away unless we receive funding from others sources.
Life for young people in rural towns is tough. They face high rates of suicide, limited employment opportunities, social isolation and increased attraction to drugs and crime.
BackTrack (NSW Youth Service of the Year) works to re-engage young people with their community and get back on track to chase their hopes and dreams. This is achieved through programs including PawsUp, building connections and trust by working with dogs, IronMan Welding and AgLads to develop vocational skills, and ‘The Paddock’ school for literacy and numeracy. BackTrack boasts an 85% success rate helping young people into employment and education. To provide scientific evidence of its outcomes it has worked with academic researchers and can prove that BackTrack is having an impact well beyond the norm. But perhaps the final word should go to the kids themselves. As stated by one participant: “Without BackTrack I would either be in jail or dead”. Their mission statement is simple: "To help as many young people having a hard time as possible”

Your ‘buy-in’ to come along is a donation of $100 or more. You pre-pay this on Pozible, one of Australia’s leading crowdfunding websites, and get a confirmation of your contribution. The pooled funds are held securely by Pozible. If your employer offers match funding for charitable donations your impact will be doubled.
ALL of the pooled funds will then be distributed to the charities based on the tallied up contributions.
