C'mon Green Man - Light Our Fire.

A "Once Upon A Time" experience for families and community.

Have you heard that the Green Man is coming to the Winter Solstice Festival?

So who is this Green Man?

The Green Man is an enigma spanning thousands of years. The Green Man is a symbol of mysterious origin and history. The Green Man is most highly believed to have begun over 2000 years ago, as a spirit of nature personified as a man. His face is always encompassed with leaves, vines and flowers emanate from his mouth & ears and flowers seeming to be literally born from the natural world.

How amazing it will be to see the twinkle of your child's eye as the Green Man Leads the Winter Solstice Parade?

A contribution to this campaign is a vote to support the wonder of childhood, the mesmerising glow of fire and all that's special in our community

We are working to continue building an iconic community event for Brunswick and the northern suburbs.

It's like a story

A "once upon a time" story where the Green Man comes....

The Winter Solstice is the shortest day of the year, and an opportunity to welcome back the sun.

This night provides a great opportunity to celebrate the Winter Solstice with colourful celebrations which will tune our children to Nature’s cycles.

It also aims to strengthen the bonds within our immediate families, friends and community.

We are promoting the evening for students, teachers, families and friends of Brunswick, Carlton, Fitzroy and the Northern Suburbs to support and enjoy this new event.

Some Of My Previous Work

At our last event the green man, once again, left his forest retreat and joined us at the inaugural Brunswick Winter Solstice

Here are some photos of our last event.

It was a very good vibe in the morning when the balloon sailed over the Winters Solstice.

Was the Green Man in the balloon?

Some of the kids, just could not wait to get to the Winter Solstice.

How exciting is this?

I love my lantern.

Hmmm, I'm bit a bit hungry, let's check the delicious things to eat.

I'm ready to go here, if you're looking for a nice warm Gluhwein (mulled wine).

Hey! did you see the Green Man, I think he's at the front of the lantern parade.

"I'll have a red lantern please!"

This is going to be good. That Fire Twirler is pretty awesome.

Arghh, you just never know which one of your friends you'll run into at the Winter Solstice.

How The Funds Will Be Used

Hello Supporters,

The funds for this crowd-funding campaign will all be directed into running an exciting event.

The campaign is called "Cmon Green - Light our Fire"

A "once upon a time" experience for families and community.

The green man is the mythical figure of nature, expressed as a man made of leaves, twigs and twine.

He appears to help celebrate the passing of the seasons. Near the shortest day of the year, Winter Solstice.

The green man may appear to lead the lantern parade of kids, to remind us of our connection to nature.

With a successful crowdfunding campaign,

We are aiming to offer all primary children FREE admission to the event, making it widely accessible to all families.

The successful crowdfunding campaign will be used:

- To enable sustainable running of the festival covering the key setup and establishment costs of the festival

- To enable setup of website, promotions and signage

- To pay for supporting entertainment, roll on stage and entertainment.

- To fund local entertainers, bands, fire-twirlers, cooler hoopers and light-show.

- To fund mandatory event costs including security, food, bar and fire permits.

$5000 will be used to fund the overall management, logistics, security, risk management and marketing costs.

The nature of crowdfunding means that a successful campaign is ALL or NOTHING.

We are asking you to dig deep and early on week 1 of the campaign.

Our campaign managers at Pozible tell us this makes a massive difference to the overall success of the campaign.

To be successful, a MINIMUM of $5000 must be raised to have a successful crowd-funding campaign.

It is All or Nothing, if that target is not reached.

An additional bonus $2000 target for entertainment has been set to increase the overall quality of acts for the festival.

This makes the overall target $7000.

A successful crowdfunding campaign helps cover the fixed costs, and therefore reduce tickets costs for adults and families.

Where possible, we will be supporting local business sourcing entertainment and equipment.

One of the hidden costs to run a large community is the large management overhead for 5-6 months leading up to the event.

One of the ways to create a long term sustainable event is to outsource heavy labour intensive and non glamorous work, best outsourced to professionals.

This also allows the vast majority of the community to join with their families, friends and extended community to enjoy the event, rather than volunteering.

By making a contribution to the Crowdfunding Campaign, you are saying "I support this event" and my community

So please contribute to make sure all our beautiful children can treasure this "Once upon a time" experience

C'mon Green Man - Light Our Fire

The Challenges

The Winter Solstice Festival is run in the middle of Winter which creates it's own challenges.

With the event naturally running in the middle of winter, we have to provision mother nature and the rain gods bringing rain or hail.

We are working to providing a safe and comfortable event for families and the general community
