Successful on 15th Mar 2016 at 8:49AM.

As two young Kurdish men, we are keen to help our people to come together and make them happier. We cannot solve all these people’s problems but we can at least try to bring them in to community and give them good times by running events and forums. In fact, their problems are not obvious for other people who are not Kurdish, but as we are Kurdish and we know our culture and our people, we can see that they feel lonely and they want to be a part of community. As running this celebration costs a lot of money and we can not afford it, we are not able to provide the funding for it by ourselves and we know that the Australian people really care about community, and they are keen to see everyone happy and active in society, without any depression. We would like to work on this project, run a traditional celebration and help these people who are now also a part of the Australian community. Please help us to bring these people together, make them happier and make a healthier community.

The Challenges

The biggest challenge for us is raising the funds. In the longer term, the challenge is to make this sustainable, and not have it grow too big. Our plan is to keep the invitation list small, use word-of-mouth, and go slowly. We are exploring the steps we need to take to set up a small charity, with a board and accountability. We are building our connections with OMAC (Office for Multiculural Afffairs and Community) and CMY (the Centre for Multicultural Youth).
However, these things take time, and we want to make the most of the energy that we helped create at the first forum, so for this event, we're going ahead and asking for your help.

The other challenge for us is the work and time involved. We are both doing a full time traineeship this year, but we are willing to work really hard for this. We will also contact some of the people who came to the first forum and offered to help, for the set up and pack up on the day.

Heartfelt thanks

On the day, your name will be listed on a large 'Thank you' and on our Facebook page.
