Hello! My name is Ingrid, I’m an artist and illustrator based in Brisbane and I’m launching pre-orders for my 2022 ‘Australian Birds’ wall calendar.

Over the past few years, I’ve created a calendar with a different flora or fauna theme. I’m a bit of a crazy bird lady, so for the 2022 edition, I’ve treated myself to creating a fully bird themed calendar with original watercolours. About the Project:

For this calendar, it seemed only fitting to choose BirdLife Australia as the wildlife organisation that I’ll be donating to. 5% of profits from each sale of this calendar will be donated to BirdLife Australia's vital bird and habitat conservation programs.

If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you may have already seen some of the process behind creating these paintings in my ‘bird of the week’ series. I’ll also be uploading these to a bird information page on my website, and you can access these by scanning the QR code on the back of your calendar.

Each month features an Australian bird that is surrounded by plantlife that make up some of its food source or habitat. 

I love how painting can be an avenue to learn more about (and appreciate!) some of the incredible wildlife we have on this planet, and why it’s important to preserve its biodiversity.

Pre-order now: You'll be the first to receive the calendar at a sneaky lil discount (after pre-orders the RRP is $28.50) and receive discounted or free shipping depending on where you are and what reward you pick! There are also some great gift packs that will only be available here.

When your calendar reaches the end of its life, please keep the paintings as art prints - they'd look great in a frame (just think, that's 12 birthday presents sorted for 2023!). Or alternatively recycle the paper, or shred and compost it.

The details:

• Printed on 300gsm recycled paper in Australia
• A4 in size and will be silver wire spiral bound with hanging holes
• All the main Australian public holidays listed within the wall calendar 
• Your orders will packaged with the environment in mind.  I'll be using recycled newspaper mailers, and wrapping them in 'vintage' paper that was saved from being thrown away. Any of the 'gift wrap' options will be made from recycled paper and printed in Australia.

Timeline:

• 15th-20th August: I'll have sent the calendars off for printing!
• 30th August - 5th September: The first batch of calendars should arrive
• 5 -15th of September: I'll be posting out your orders
• 15-30th of September: Your orders should arrive by mid to end of September if you live in Australia.

Budget Overview:

Goal 1: $1,500

The main upfront cost associated with this project is printing. For the first print run, I'll be getting around 1000 copies done. These calendars will be distributed for wholesale orders, your pre-orders, and to stock my Etsy shop later this year.

All together this will be quite a big order finacially for my tiny business ($6000 +!). Your pre-orders will help aid in that upfront cost, while also spreading the word! I've set the goal at $1,500 as I think we can achieve this together!

Goal 2: $3,000

If we reach $3,000 then, firstly, wow thank you, and secondly, I'll start to add some more cool rewards!

These include:

• Limited edition signed prints of selected calendar artworks
• Mini original artworks
• Original artwork commission slots

Goal 3: $6,000

If we reach this then wowee! That almost covers the cost of all the printing from the get go! 

If we reach this goal, then to say thanks to everyone, I'll include a limited edition postcard in each order with a handwritten thank you!
