The social need:  Tackling disadvantage head on and changing lives through social enterprise

The impact of not having access to employment and training can be debilitating. Unemployment is a major reason for poverty and poverty is the major cause of housing stress and homelessness.

There is a dire need for social enterprise in Melbourne's northern suburbs, rated as some of the highest areas of social and economic disadvantage in Australia. Unemployment rates are significantly higher than that of the Victorian state average and youth unemployment is recently reported to be pushing up to 40%. In addition, employment rates for people with a disability show they are 50% less likely to have a job, ranking Australia 21 out of 29 of the OECD countries. These are serious social issues that are at the heart of our reason for being.

Who are we?

Enable & In the Click Social Enterprise is an innovative not for profit organisation founded in August 2013 to tackle high unemployment head-on in Melbourne's north to relieve poverty and the risk of homelessness due to lack of access to work and learning for highly disadvantaged jobseekers. As a social enterprise, Enable’s vision is a connected community without disadvantage. Our mission is to break unemployment cycles and meet the needs of disadvantaged jobseekers through offering robust work and learning opportunities and employment pathways and we achieve this through our commercial ventures such as our online shop, www.intheclick.org.au and our latest product development project RELAX.inspire.change candles for a cause.

Soy & Palm wax, wicks, decals and cups for large tea light candles

Palm wax, Pillar moulds (wick pin, holders and wick locator) and tumblers with lids so we can stock new PILLAR range and sizes of our Candles for a Cause to RELAX.inspire.change.
Fragrance Oils, wicks and dye chips for new lines of blends in the design stage!

Simply put, with more equipment and materials, the more candles we are able to make and sell via our online store  www.intheclick.org.au AND most importantly, the more warehouse and logistics work and learning opportunities we can create in Melbourne’s north.
