The Ear is a Brain: Compendium LP
‘The Ear is a Brain’ will contain, inscribed in its grooves, a series of vibrational (made of sound) and conceptual (addressing sound) experiments. ‘The Ear is a Brain’ is an artist’s record. It is not the documentation of a work of art or sound. The record is the work of art. We take inspiration from the history of ‘sound art’ anthologies, notably Audio Arts.

What kinds of sounds?
(in alphabetical order) Action Art, Anti-Music, Conceptual Biography, Conversations With Self, Electricity, Imploding Objects, Market-Driven Composition, Mouth Music, Microphone Misuse, New Muzak, Plagiarism, Rock, Stutterances, Words and Non-Words.
We recommend you watch the above video as a secondary ritual after reading these terms.
What other kind of sounds?
Sounds that cannot be described at this time.
This album is, as of now, conceptual only. As in, we know what we know of these artists. We know what they have made. What exactly we don’t know is what they will do next. Which is something we at Liquid Architecture want to know.
But, we don’t need to send another object out into this world if it’s not wanted. We don’t want to add to the sheer mass of material to be stored, transported, exchanged, filed, managed, accommodated, experienced — unless it is also ENJOYED. And thus, wanted.
And that is the logic of using this system. If you can handle the degree of uncertainty and ambiguity, moreover if it sparks in you a desire, then you, along with others, can bring that desire to bear on reality itself and make the immaterial material.
Please support our record into existence.
How The Funds Will Be Used
2. At 150 pledges we will reach our target of $3000AUD, which is the approximate cost of pressing and printing the record in an edition of 200.
3. 150 of these will go to the pledgers. The remaining 50 will go to the participating artists.
4. Thanks to Creative Partnerships, every dollar you pledge up to $5000 will be matched through their Match Crowdfunding for the Independent Arts Sector initiative, provided we reach our target!
5. The matched funding will be distributed between the Australian artists as fees for their work.
