Hello. We are seven 2nd year students from the National Institute of Circus Arts in Melbourne, Australia.
As part of our studies we have the opportunity to travel to Montreal to attend Le Montréal Complètement Cirque – the Montreal Circus Festival. This global gathering of the circus community features performances, workshops and seminars with some of the world’s most respected industry professionals. As students, this is a rare opportunity for us to witness, collaborate and train with the best circus artists and creatives; including spending time at the headquarters of Cirque du Soleil – the world’s largest theatrical producer.
Through this experience we hope to be exposed to and inspired by a wide range of international circus expertise and also build new networks with fellow circus practitioners, which will prove invaluable to our professional development as artists.
After taking part in the incredible experiences in Montreal, we will then head to Las Vegas to witness the skill and astounding production value of Cirque du Soleil’s resident shows - stages that some of us hope to be performing on in the not too distant future.
The Australian circus scene has made some incredible leaps and bounds - pun intended - in the past 10 years and we are working hard to be amongst those who propel our art into the future.

How The Funds Will Be Used
Travelling this far afield for two weeks is a very expensive endeavour. The initial estimated cost of the trip was $5000 per student for a total of $35,000. Flights themselves are approximately $3500 each, which is why we chose this amount as our initial goal. The funds raised will be spread evenly between the seven students helping us to pay for our flights and accommodation. Every donation will help us develop our own skills and as such, is an investment in the future of Circus Arts in Australia.
The Challenges
Planning the study tour trip is going very well. The major obstacle we are running into is funding. The entire cost of the trip needs to be raised by each individual student, with the help of grants and fundraising. We are passionate about what we do, but we need your help to realise the things we want to accomplish.

2 hours of Private Tuition Ever had a dream about running away with the circus? This 2 hour, one-on-one private tuition session hosted by a member of the study tour will ready you for a life in the circus: swing on the trapeze, juggle or even walk the tight-wire above a pit of crocodiles! *Might not actually ready you for a life in the circus. *crocodile pit may not contain "real" crocodiles, just study tour students pretending to be crocodiles. *Subject to availability
