It's a series of six intersecting monologues set in a gym. The piece takes six characters – a disparate collection of gym junkies, first timers and posers – to interrogate why we repeat certain behaviours again and again (….and again and again).
'Circuit' is being put on as part of The Rocks Pop Up (http://therockspopup.tumblr.com/) with rehearsals starting April 15th and performances from May 1st-15th.
Funds raised on Pozible will be put towards:
* Venue hire
* Public liability insurance
* Sound and lighting equipment
* Marketing material
* Ticketing costs
* Costumes
* Window dressing (for our George St shopfront)
* Props & equipment hire
If we can cover some of our initial costs and break-even, we'll then be able to use our profits to pay the creatives we've gotten on board. These include our...
* Writers
* Actors
* Videographer
* Lighting designer
* Sound designer
* Graphic designer
This is a huge priority for us as we believe supporting the arts means supporting the artists. We want to value our creatives' time and talent because we know that artwork requires work. And even though we're a new collective, we want to build a professional reputation right from the get go.
Here's a little bio of our five writers who are bringing this project to life:
SEAN CORCORAN

Sean hails from Bankstown in Western Sydney and can’t help but feel like it’s made him who he is today. Restless.
He’s always had a passion for performing, whether it be putting on puppet shows as a kid, or making a fool of himself on film as a teenager; but only when he got to uni did he find an avenue of all his pent up energy - theatre.
He soon found himself president of the theatre society at UTS; writing, directing and performing in a variety of plays, as well as developing a love for improvisational comedy.
Outside of uni, he won 'Best Play' at the Griffin Theatre's 24-Hour Play-Offs in 2010 and did his best trying to look buff donning a Roman soldier's costume for the stadium production of Ben Hur.
Since graduating, Sean began working for comedy-focused production company, Jungleboys, trying his hand at producing and attempting to bring a little touch of Bankstown to the Darlinghurst-based company.
Two years later, the theatrical bug is back. Circuit will be Sean’s first monologue, and if he has it his way, his last comeback.
GRACE DE MORGAN
Grace is a writer/performer who finished her Masters in Writing for
Stage & Broadcast Media at the Central School of Drama, London in December
2010. In her free-time, she likes to dress up like a baroness.
Her performed works include short plays: 'Riding the Red' (as part of the 2012 Short and Sweet Festival in Sydney and Auckland gala final), 'My Brotherʼs Keeper' and 'Three is Not the Magic Number' (as a part of Theatre 503ʼs Rapid Write Response initiative in 2010).
After her first play 'Integrity's Wench' was long-listed for the Edward Albee Script Competition Award in 2010, the Australian Writers' Guild invited her onto their Pathways program. In July 2009, she spent two weeks on a writing internship at Channel Tenʼs Good News Week and has been a contributor to the Sydney Morning Herald’s Travel lift-out from November 2008 - July 2012.
From March – June 2012, Grace participated in Augusta Supple’s ‘Write Here, Write Now’ playwrights’ initiative whilst doing an online copywriting internship at Todae.com.au.
Most recently, she participated in ATYP’s Fresh Ink National Studio residency at Bundanon Trust and finished the first draft of her new play, 'Modern Warfare'.
JOSH FORWARD
Josh is a Sydney-based theatre maker, who graduated from his Bachelor of Writing and Cultural Studies at UTS in 2010. During his studies and ever since, Josh has immersed himself in the Sydney theatre scene, performing with Opera Australia, ATYP and TROUTS, and writing ‘Handprints’ for the Griffin Festival of New Writing and ‘Delayed’ for Short and Sweet. Both of these submissions resulted in the pieces receiving awards.
Recently Josh was also selected to ATYP’s Fresh Ink National Studio
residency at Bundanon Trust.
Behind the scenes, Josh has also embraced his organisational side of the brain, working as a stage manager for Sydney Fringe and Sidetrack Theatre, as well as working administration such as ticketing, event co-ordinating, and corporate relations for Sydney Theatre Company, Gondwana Choirs, Newtheatricals, The Australian Ballet and currently Sydney Dance Company.
