THE PROBLEM

There are thousands of charities and social enterprises, so how do you know which one to support?

How do you know where your money's going?

How do you find the time to research what's out there, let alone whether they're worthy?

How can you make a difference if you are not a millionaire?

THE 10X10 SOLUTION

10x10 is a scalable platform that provides a unique and social forum for young professionals and creatives to give to emerging charities or social enterprises whose causes resonate with them. It also engenders a culture of giving and philanthropy within our communities.

THIS EVENT

Join us on Wednesday 29 June 2016 at Blue Sky Investments

Level 46, 111 Eagle St, Brisbane

5.30pm-7.30pm

Drinks & canapés from 5:30pm. Speakers begin promptly at 6:00pm.

HOW IT WORKS

1) Each event showcases three emerging charities or social enterprises, carefully chosen as organisations creating solutions to complex social issues in our communities or abroad.

2) Supported by the 10x10 founders, each event is planned and hosted by a fresh committee of 10. Each committee member hosts 10 guests at the event, bringing together over 100 people who each contribute $100 or more, raising $10,000 at least!

3) Each charity or social enterprise has five minutes to pitch in the style of the popular UK television show "The Dragon's Den" and are then questioned by a special guest Dragon about their cause and business model.

4) The amount you donate through Pozible in advance is turned into vouchers for 'Charity Dollars' in increments of $50. After hearing the pitches, you choose the organisations you most want to support. Many people want to support all three charities or social enterprises so they contribute $150 or more. Additional donations to the enterprises are contributed by our event sponsors.

5) All costs of each event are covered by event sponsors, to ensure that ALL funds raised on the night go directly to the three charities or social enterprises.

How The Funds Will Be Used

OUR CHARITIES

After considerable debate, we have handpicked three fantastic charities who will pitch for your donations on the night. Read about each of them below:

THE NAPPY COLLECTIVE

The Nappy Collective collects your leftover unused disposable nappies and redistributes them to organisations that support families in crisis or in need.

How it works?

  • Too Many Nappies: Do you have leftover unused disposable nappies lying around? Drop them off at your nearest designated collection points whilst the collective is on or contact us if there are none nearby.
  • Pass them on: At the end of the two week collective the nappies are sorted, packed and swiftly distributed to organisations that support families in crisis or in need. Click here to see the list of beneficiaries The Nappy Collective supports.
  • Make a Difference: Nappies are a basic healthcare need and lack of sufficient nappies can lead to an array of problems for disadvantaged families. So when you donate your spare nappies, you help these families to focus more of their time and energy on getting their lives back on track.

HOPE STREET CAFE

Hope St Café is a new social enterprise cafe and inclusive community space located in South Brisbane. It is a community space designed to bring people together regardless of background.

Hope St cafe will operate in partnership with TAFE Queensland Brisbane and the local hospitality scene as an inclusive community asset and hub - made up of a cafe; exhibition and performance spaces; a grocer supplying spray-free locally grown produce; pantry items and wholesome baked food.

The Café will provide training and development opportunities in the hospitality and retail space for resident who face barriers to work.

The cafe builds community — connecting people in a space built for connection, by providing space for visual artists, musicians, community groups, and events, where these people can tell their stories, or the stories of people whose voices otherwise might not be heard.

MULTICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT AUSTRALIA (MDA) - Donate a Ride

MDA is committed to delivering a Queensland that is welcoming and where all new arrivals have the opportunity to fully contribute to and participate in a multicultural society where our diversity is recognised as a strength.

Our Donate a Ride campaign aims to raise $50,000 to cover the transport cost for clients so they can volunteer their time and skills across Brisbane, attend vocational training and participate in social inclusion activities. 100% of funds raised go directly to top-up Go Cards for refugees and people seeking asylum who have limited and are unable to work.

They are committed and eager to make community connections and learn new skills, as well as make a contribution back to their new communities through volunteering. The cost of public transport is not affordable for new arrivals, and Donate A Ride aims to support people so they can build connections, share opportunities and play a meaningful role of living in our community.
