Black Comedy Action Thriller

Directed By

Griffin McLaughlin

Written By

Griffin McLaughlin

Produced By

Charlie Hankey

A short film written by Griffin McLaughlin and produced by Charlie Hankey. This film is backed by Transistor Youth Arts.

Meet James, a recovering agoraphobe. We meet James on his first day at a new job, and with diminished people skills, he's counting on it being... regular, at the least. Day one- A gunman in the office has other ideas.

This script was developed through Transistor Film Weekly Workshops a filmmaking program for young people aged 12 to 17. The program is an initiative of Tasmanian Film Company Mast Films. Mast Films is committed to providing the platform, resources and support for young people and marginalized communities to tell their own stories through the medium of film.

This year we were going to produce the films in partnership with a local Government but at the last moment the Council pulled out of the partnership due to budgeting and staffing concerns. Rather than give up on their project the students decided to run a Pozible campaign so as to make up the funding short fall.

During the year the participants have learnt scriptwriting, Directing, Producing, filmmaking and editing skills through practical workshops and applied these skills in the development, creation and filming of a 6-part web-series THE MEMES that will be launched on October 5.

Mentors Lucien Simon & Bailey Jackson

Budget Overview

The money will be used to cover the costs of the mentor filmmakers, costumes and props. Equipment hire costs will be covered by Mast Films and editing suites will be provided by the University of Tasmania's Media Department.

Potential Challenges

The script they have created for this film has gone through multiple drafts and they are ready to go to the next level as filmmakers. These are young people from diverse backgrounds with a unique voice and we hope that you can support their journey as filmmakers. They are a talented crew with a genuine desire to make it in the industry as professionals and storytellers.
