Auto - Ethnographic Theatre Anthropology: a functional fantasy

My paper has Auto - Ethnographic Theatre Anthropology: a functional fantasy has been accepted into the international conference Contemporary Perspectives: Directing, Third Theatre Archives at LAFLIS, the living archive of Odin Teatret’s work in Lecce, Italy in November this year.

The conference is an opportunity for local theatre company Institute of Luck to present key aspects of its practice and research to an international community of experts and peers at the sixtieth anniversary celebrations of one of the most significant theatre companies of the past century, as a living part of the legacy of Eugenio Barba and Odin Teatret's work

Travel to the conference forms links between our local artistic and research community with sixty researchers, artists and socially engaged theatre makers from fifteen countries, through ten days of socially engaged projects, presentations and performances. It shares these links with local community members, artists and researchers through a follow up presentation in the department of Theatre and Performance Studies seminar series at the University of Sydney.

The project supports a new aspect of an historic legacy to grow in our local context through the Institute of Luck.

Without your help, travel, participation in the conference and development of our work will not be possible, so thank you for your support for theatre practice and research.

Invitation to participate as a guest in Insitute of Luck four hour workshop

Exploring auto - ethnographic theatre anthropology from a practical point of view, this is a socially and intellectually engaged creative workshop which develops new ways of making theatre based on individual and shared experiences of group theatre training. It draws on principles developed by historic theatre laboratory Odin Teatret that offer insights into transformation in methods of theatrical practice and composition. It pursues connections between resonant actions and effective speech between creative mediums, encouraging contributions from people at all stages of their creative journey. Workshops focus not only on transmission of skills but development of contexts where new forms of theatre and creativity can emerge between performers, directors, artists, writers, socially engaged facilitators and interested people.
