We have made our target!

On behalf of Hepburn Wind, Ghostpatrol, Bonsai and team – thank you to the dozens of supporters who have contributed over $10,000 to our campaign.

With around an extra $1000 we can confirm that we will have documentary film maker Andy Hatton along to film the process and create a beautiful video of the mural and Sleep under the stars event. Any further additional funds will go towards painting a more complex mural and getting a bigger boom lift on site to do it!

After their widely acclaimed 2013 mural on the first of our turbines, Ghostpatrol, Bonsai and team are returning to paint the second turbine of the award winning Hepburn Wind – Australia's first community-owned wind farm. The final touches of the mural will be time to co-incide with an event ‘Sleep under the stars’, a family friendly camping event on Saturday 15 November. Hundreds of locals and wind farm fans will enjoy a beautiful and positive sensory experience of art, entertainment and clean energy at our wind farm.

'Gale' was given her personality in 2013 and now it is T2 or 'Gusto's' turn!

Hepburn Wind has been recognised with awards such as the Premier’s Sustainability Award, the Banksia Award and the World Wind Energy Award for our unique approach to community engagement.  The ongoing benefit of the permanent mural on the turbine will result in the wind farm further becoming a desirable tourism and educational destination for school groups and the broader public.

Some Of My Previous Work

In 2011, in the presence of 760 attendees, a local school girl officially cut the ribbon on Australia’s first community wind farm after she won a completion to name our two turbines: Gale and Gusto. Since then, our turbines have made the Daylesford area a net exporter of energy and have prevented more than 33,000 tons of CO2 entering the atmosphere.

In 2013, acclaimed Melbourne based street artist Ghostpatrol, donated his time and a team to painting the first mural on Gale’. The mural on ‘Gale’ attracted national and international media attention, with a community in Scotland soon following suit. We held a ‘live-painting’ event where our 350 from our community and further afield were able to look on as the final touches were applied to the mural.

Hepburn Wind has a strong history of inclusive and fun community events such as:
- the ‘Turning of the Sod’ in 2010 where 120 attended
- the ‘Turbine Raising Picnic’ in 2011 where 350 attended
- the ‘Launch Festival’ in late 2011 where 760 attended
- ‘The Painting of Gale by Ghostpatrol’ in 2013, where 350 attended

How The Funds Will Be Used

Ghostpatrol, Bonsai and their team have incredibly generously offered to paint Gusto.

To enable this, we are asking our community of supporters to contribute for basic costs for the mural. A lot needs to come together in regards to supplies and equipment for the week of painting.

At the minimum level of $7750, a team of 3 will be able to undertake the complex painting project inclusive of materials.

For an extra $2500 a documentary film maker will be able to film the process and create a beautiful video of the mural and Sleep under the stars event.

Any additional funds will go towards the Sleep under the stars event on 15 November and towards Ghostpatrol and team painting a more complex mural!
