The Graduates present: Cruising Paradise – tales by Sam Shepard
This project provides an opportunity for selected National Theatre Drama School graduates to showcase their performance skills in an original work adapted from the short stories of Academy Award and Pulitzer Prize- winning playwright and actor, Sam Shepard.
The work itself contains the voices of many of Shepard’s iconic characters: loners, losers, tough guys and cowpunks, even movie stars. The five performers (and a musician) create a world akin to that of chamber music: intimate, meditative and always surprising.
The creative team comprises:
Producer - Ken Boucher (Director of the National Theatre Drama School)
Director – Terence O’Connell (Freelance Theatre Director of wide experience)
Designer – Jacob Battista (Graduate of the VCA Design Course)
Stage Manager – Brook Sykes (National Theatre Acting Graduate)
Acting Company – Mandie Combe (2006 Graduate) Lucy Norton (2008 Graduate) Camille Meghaizel (2006 Graduate) Will Ewing (2011 Graduate) & James Stanistreet (2010 Graduate)
The production will play for 16
performances (Tuesday – Sunday) at 45 Downstairs (45 Flinders Lane, Melbourne)
from Saturday April 27 until Sunday May 12 with two preview performances on Thursday
and Friday April 25 & 26
and Saturday matinees on May 4 and 11.
