Mise-En-Abyme is a surreal, dark comedy/psycho thriller that explores the relationship between ambition and manipulation and the consequences that arise from it. Drawing on the awkwardness and realism of The Cohen brothers films, Mise-En-Abyme really focuses on unusual and interesting dialogue along with painfully awkward scenarios and unexpected plots.

The Cast and Crew

CHESTER BUCHANAN - Director/ Writer

After previous success with short films Vanilla and Reel to Real, Chester starting working on a script for his fourth short film Mise-En-Abyme (his biggest project to date). Having refined the script over the last five months the film has developed into a very unique work that doesn’t adhere the characteristics of your typical short film.

Chester loves exploring and experimenting with unusual concepts, making sure that he avoids clichés at all costs. He’s really excited about this film, as it is his first short film with dialogue and the most extensive crew he has worked with.

LANI TUPU - Ryan Cumberford (The Director)

Lani Tupu is a fantastic New Zealand born actor who has had extensive experience in the film and television industry.
