About the Film
Super Fresh is a comedy, action, sci-fi, with a little romance thrown in, and that mixture is the film’s ultimate appeal. It is a Jack the Giant Killer/Buddy movie with a Sci-Fi influence, populated by recognisable characters, funny one liners and cool Aliens. Super Fresh will be a cool and funny sci-fi film with great appeal to lovers of the genre.
Featuring Spartacus star, Dustin Clare, at the core of Super Fresh is the relationship between Kip and Jez. Two young men from very different upbringings who are thrown together by a multinational supermarket chain and forced to become mates. It isn’t easy at first, but when they both encounter a common enemy, the grumpy shop manager, Mr Le, they soon become great friends and allies. That friendship faces it’s biggest challenge with the arrival of the Aliens. The geek becomes the hero and the tough guy is proven to be not-so-tough, but ultimately they are able to overcome their differences for the benefit of mankind.
Super Fresh is a homage to buddy movies, bromances and Saturday matinee sci-fi serials. It is Hot Fuzz meets Dr Who. Full of fun and action, a bit of tongue-in-cheek comedy, a pinch of menace, all wrapped up in a brightly lit Supermarket backdrop. Super Fresh will have great appeal to all ages and is a definite crowd pleaser.
Lead by award winning Producers Michael Facey and Clint Logan, the team was attracted to the project by the film’s fun and fresh approach to the genre. Archangel Pictures, Sandbox Post Production and Fighting Chance Films have joined forces to produce Super Fresh, bringing together many years of professional film making that spans across Short Films, Television Commercials, Feature Films and TV series.
AGSC Award winning composer Ash Gibson Greig and LA based, Emmy Award nominated re-recording mixer David Raines, round off the very talented production team that has assembled to bring Writer, Heather Wilson’s fantastic script to life.
Director Chris Richards-Scully returns to the genre that he loves! He has directed numerous short films including the award winning sci-fi short Icarus, which screened on the Sci-Fi Channel and SBS TV in Australia. No stranger to creature suits, CGI and action, Chris learnt much of his trade while working on the hit sci-fi TV series Farscape and Parallax. His unique voice flair for story, action and visuals make him the perfect choice to bring this ambitious, action packed, CGI heavy short to the screen.
Why Crowd Funding
Crowd funding is an amazing concept. It puts the power back into the hands of the audience. No longer do we have to depend on the decisions of a few to get permission to make our films. Now we filmmakers have direct access to our audience and you have the choice to support us.
Our State film funding agency; ScreenWest, has seen the potential of this and in partnership with Pozible, they launched the 3:1 initiative.
This means for every dollar we raise through our Pozible campaign, Screenwest will match it with $3, but there's a catch. There is only a limited pool of Screenwest funding and we are competing against other teams. The first projects to reach their target get the additional support, until the pool of funds is depleted.
What Happens If We Miss Out On A ScreenWest Contribution?
We believe that Super Fresh will be thoroughly entertaining cinema. We are passionate film makers who are super keen to bring this film to the screen. If we are unable to access additional funds from Screenwest we will continue our Pozible campaign in the hope to raise more than our initial total, in the hope that our audience (You) like our film so much that you will give us the opportunity to make it.
Even if you can't Pledge support, please tell your friends about Super Fresh, share this page with everyone you know and help us reach our goal.
