Improv Theatre Sydney's Home
We got a house! Help us turn it into a home!
UPDATE: We did it and reached our initial target! We did it so quickly and with a much larger response than we were expecting so have now stretched our target to more realistically align with the costs of setting up Sydney's first improv theatre. We're incredibly grateful for the support that everyone's offered so far. Thanks. Check out our new rewards and stay tuned for more yet to come!!!
We've grown so much since we first started five years ago, putting on shows at Giant Dwarf Theatre and workshops in and around Redfern and we decided to get our own space. We're opening up Sydney's first home of improvised comedy theatre!
Over the past five years, we've been able to teach over 1400 different people our brand of improv, sketch comedy and stand-up from some of our friends who just also happen to be some of the best improvisers and improv teachers from around the world. We've been able to bring improv to community organisations, to schools for both drama and well-being, to large corporations and to refugee groups in Sydney and those seeking asylum in Indonesia.
We've put up the walls already and are hoping to starting giving workshops in the space this month, but we want to turn it into a proper theatre with lights, sound, a bar, maybe even a few chairs. That's where you can help.
Improv Theatre Sydney has been proud to bring silliness and joy in a way that is inclusive and is made better by recognising the strength a diversity of voices offers, and supports our goals with scholarships and community initiatives.
Improv Theatre Sydney is made up of some wonderful people, like the people on our board:
Carlo Ritchie (Artistic Director) • Cale Bain (Managing Director) • Kate Coates • Edan Lacey • Steen Raskopoulos • Nikita Agzarian • Bec Annetts from Giant Dwarf
and our faculty is top notch, full of international and industry experience!
Anna Renzenbrink • Bridie Connell • Cale Bain • Carlo Ritchie • Clare Cavanagh • Edan Lacey • Josh Magee • Kate Coates • Laura Hart • Maddie Parker • Marcel Blanch- de Wilt • Penny Greenhalgh • Zoë Rae
