Who are we?

 

Lip is an independent magazine for young women, that aims to provide intelligent, thoughtful content for our equally intelligent and thoughtful readers. You may not find crass sex advice and body-shaming fashion pages here, but you will discover wonderful new female artists and musicians, a fresh outlook on feminism, and enough sass to shock the fainthearted.

As an entirely independent magazine, Lip has some pretty high aims, and a lot of obstacles to overcome before each issue is published, particularly when it comes to funding.

We try to deliver the highest quality in the magazine, and that counts for everything from the content itself, to the paper we use, and the style and feel of the magazine.

All of our staff are volunteers, and with no advertising in the magazine, printing each issue can be a fair struggle.

 

We would like to raise $1000 to print issue 21 of Lip. The funds largely contribute to the actual printing costs (which total around $800 per issue), with the additional money helping us cover the costs of posting subscribers their copies, and hosting launch parties etc. This means funding anything from hiring venues, to paying musicians, to organizing food and wine for the launches. All of that contributes to getting our name out there, and the more subscribers we have, the more likely we are to stay out there!

 

We think Lip is important in today’s media landscape, when so many magazines talk down to their female readers, and fail to offer thought provoking, insightful content. Help us stay afloat, and we’ll guarantee you a great read every time!
