One of my favourite parts of the day is singing to my kids before they go to sleep. Every so often, when I go away, I record them a song to play at bedtime. Sometimes we give these songs to other kids too. Despite the lack of novelty car horns and slide whistles they seem to like it. Here's an example of a book we put to music:
We thought that other kids, even kids we don't know, might like to hear the songs we sing before bed. This Pozible project is about funding the recording and production of an album for little people (and little people at heart).
We will put songs on the album that are honest, inspiring, heartfelt and gentle, using only acoustic instruments and our voices. Some will be our versions of songs we love, others will be our own creations. While we have a lot of songs to choose from, we are also open to suggestions.
The album will be available to the general public as a limited run of 500 physical copies and on digital platforms (iTunes and Bandcamp) in February 2014. Prices yet to set.

The Challenges
One possible challenge will be gaining permission to put other people's words to music or covering their original work. I will clearly acknowledge wherever I use someone else's work and seek permission where applicable. For example, I am still awaiting a response from the Seuss group re using the words from 'Oh The Places You'll Go'. If any legally minded people can tell me whether I actually need permission, I would love to hear from you.
