ABOUT THE PROJECT
Everyday Hero is hilarious new short comedy from Writer/Director Peta Christey and Producer Ben Wright
SYNOPSIS
A superhero named DynoFlux gets his powers stripped from him by his arch-enemy Professor Poison. He turns to Alexa; a brilliant young scientist, the only person he knows and the woman he is always rescuing. Together they try to get his powers back, but he learns that maybe he doesn't need to have super powers to be a hero.
THE FILM
This project was born from our love of super heroes and the way the genre as a film has had a strong resurgence in recent years. We believe the strongest super hero films are the ones that show the human side of the hero's, their flaws and their weaknesses.
As filmmakers we wanted to also turn the genre around and disempower the hero. In this way the Damsel in Distress becomes the Hero. The core message of this film is that the smallest gesture can make you a Hero in someone else's perspective.
The two largest influences on this film would be 'Scott Pilgrim vs The World' and 'Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog'. Both of these films feature anti-hero's and interesting interpretations of the super hero genre.
WHY WE'RE CROWDFUNDING
This short film is part of our final year of Screen Production at Murdoch University, with a screening at the end of the year.
Although we have a highly talented cast and crew on board, as well as the support of Murdoch University, we still need a little more to go towards production costs in order to fully realise this amazing project. We know first hand that making a believable world with superheroes in it simply cant be done cheaply.
We are in pre-production now with shooting to begin in mid September. This is followed by 5 weeks of post-production in picture and sound. Our film will be completed by November 2013 and we look forward to sharing it with you.
Our goal is to enter our film into A-list domestic film festivals like St Kilda, Melbourne International Film Festival CinefestOZ.

The Challenges
The largest risks and obstacles we foresee for this project is keeping it on schedule and the usual problems that come up during film production. Our largest concern is getting all pre-production complete before we start shooting. We will need to get into debt to pay for this phase of the production so it would be nice to be able to pay that debt back upon completion of a successful crowd funding campaign!
I have every confidence that we can deliver this project if fully funded comfortably on time and under budget including all deliverables.
