Knit Your Revolt! Craft vs. Abbott!
!!!Streeeeeeeetch Goal!!!
EIGHTEEN rad craft groups from across Aus, plus over ONE HUNDRED lone renegade knitters from every state & territory in the country, have joined forces to use the power of wool to halt the nation's political skid to the right & we need YOUR HELP.
Stand up & be counted with the gentle knitters of the land & together let's stop an Abbott Armageddon!
We reached our base goal - THANK YOU!!! - this means that within days we'll begin holding nanna-core knit-ins with our two AMAZING knitted banners, giving knitting lessons, tea & biccies & talking to voters about the perils of Abbott

We have contributing knitters from across Australia keen to greet the banners & host knit-ins including knitters in marginal seats like Brisbane, Deakin & Corangamite in Vic (Australia's MOST marginal seat), Page in northern NSW, & Denison in Tas. We've got knitters from Lib strong-holds like Sophie Mirabella's seat of Indi, to Riverina, stitched up (until we unpick it!) by the Nationals, to Rudd's seat of Griffith. We've got knitters in Adelaide, Canberra, Northern Territory & Western Australia. Help us hit 'em all with knittin' wisdom by pledging & sharing the word.

One day after the Aus media went ape-shit over a pic of Gillard knitting, claiming it undermined her tough image, the Government caved & booted her out of office.
When these media dinosaurs say that knitting cannot go hand in hand with strength, what they are really saying is that anything associated with women, & by extension women themselves, cannot be strong.
WE'RE GONNA SHOW 'EM HOW TOUGH & DETERMINED KNITTERS CAN BE!

If Abbott is elected he'll tumble gender equality reforms back to the dark ages, misogyny will be legitimised & women will wind up sticking their knitting needles into their uteruses. To prevent that happening, we're sticking them in some wool & crafting two rad protest banners.
This is your invitation to support a mega-posse of craftivists & alt-knitters from across Australia to help march their revolutionary knitted banners around the nation, warning of the dangers of electing a complete knit-wit to head office.

Thanks to our small army of knitters across Australia our two banners are nearing completion, & they are looking rad!
These woolly weaves, knitted with skill & consideration are testament to the steely determination of those who resist right-wing mania.

Just some of the knitted letters that have started arriving from across the nation: m (Heather Sp of Yarnbombing Croydon), M (Shannon Morton of AMUCK), t (Katie Sweatman of Queer Melbourne Stitch n Bitch), i (thinanna)
With the election nearly upon us we want to get the banners marching down as many streets in the land as we can (& there are a couple of pollies in particular we'd like to wave them in front of...)
Our goal is to conduct protest knit-ins at key electoral offices across Aus & to march the banners through as many of the hometowns of the knitting contributors as possible. With over 100 lone knitters & 17 knit groups on board, that's a lot of turf we've gotta cover & we've got to be snappy about it, too.
We've got some neat little gifts in the rewards section for contributors but the best prize will be helping to create a more compassionate, egalitarian, humane and sane political climate.
Every little bit is most appreciated & if you're $ poor but can give us a hand by sharing this project with others who might be able to chip in or broadcast the message, that'd be very ace too.
If you're a knitter & would like to jump in on the action, message [email protected] ♥
