COMPANION is the new 5 track EP by Jeremy Oxley, the second solo work released in his career outside of Sunnyboys. Three tracks are re-recorded, enhanced songs from his unreleased home recording MONASTERY (1998) which is a deeply personal and reflective insight into his feelings and life at the time while battling crippling health issues. In 2012, in good health and a loving home situation, Jeremy set to with some of Australia’s finest musicians (Brendan Gallagher, Stuart Eadie, Peter Oxley) to update and breathe fresh life into these songs and in doing so changed the personality and perspective of them. Two new songs ‘Movin’ Out” a pretty and moving instrumental piece, and “Magic Parade”, co-written with his wife Mary complete the EP. The sound has evolved from Jeremy's early Sunnyboys sound. The more relaxed feel is that of country/ folk rock which showcases Jeremy’s amazing ability to adapt as a musician into any genre.

HOW THE PROJECT CAME ABOUT?
Whilst making the documentary THE SUNNYBOY I helped facilitate the COMPANION project. Knowing there would be revived and possibly broader interest in Jeremy and his music because of the film I offered him a recording opportunity. It has been my hope that Jeremy will capitalise on the heightened public interest by releasing his new material around the same time the film is launched.
I brought on the very talented producer/musician Brendan Gallagher (Karma County, Jimmy Little Messenger), worked closely with Jeremy and his wife Mary to ensure a low stress experience was had by all and I covered the costs. I did this as an individual so Jeremy could own the project once the costs had been recouped (the film has no ownership over the recordings).
The costs to be re-couped include the following:
4900 producer, musician & pre-mix fees
1000 flights
880 miscellaneous (including taxi’s, petrol, food)
960 one day recording in studio, engineer, two days mix
660 Mastering
1100 Duplication (1000 copies)
500 5% Pozible fee
Any monies collected in excess of 10 000 will go towards future duplication costs for the EP
I am hopeful that all those who admire the contribution Jeremy has made to Australian music, those who celebrate Jeremy's ability to survive some very difficult years and those who just want the best for him will make a pledge to this campaign.
If this campaign is successful, you will be making a tangible contribution to Jeremy's well being and ongoing recovery. He will own the EP release and will earn an income from the first sale whether he is able to promote it or not (the EP will be distributed by MGM). I imagine he will also be pleasantly surprised by the amount of support and goodwill that is "out there" for him which can't do any harm.
It has been a very rewarding project for all involved and I look forward to seeing Jeremy make a splash as a self published artist in 2013!
