Hi I'm Lewis Brownlie and I'm from Rochdale, which is near Manchester in the north of England. I'm now based in Geelong and have spent the last year drawing Melbourne, one building at a time. I make each artwork on location from direct observation, each drawing usually taking over 10 hours to complete. I've been selling cards and prints of my drawings through a number of independent Melbourne retailers and directly while out on location. This new project will enable me to publish my first book, which I'm very excited about.

'Buildings of Melbourne Colouring Book' is just that: a book containing 21 of my ink drawings of some of Melbourne's most beautiful and iconic buildings. You can choose to add your own colour or enjoy the drawings as they are. The book also includes brief entries on each building (by curator Clare Williamson) and a map showing the location of each building, so you can take your own walking tour of Melbourne, either in person or via the book.

Thanks to your support, the book has been printed and should be in people's hands in time for Christmas!

I'm working with graphic designer Lin Tobias of Hootenanny Ink and curator and coordinator Clare Williamson who are helping me get the book professionally produced and printed by a good local printer. Alex Robinson created the great video that you've hopefully just watched (above) and Grace Finlayson and Tess McMahon are assisting with spreading the word about the project and our Pozible campaign.

The $3000 that we are hoping to raise will be put towards printing costs for the book and will meet our current shortfall for the project (see budget breakdown below). If we are fortunate enough to raise additional funds, we will use these to print more copies and to assist in distributing the book to bookstores and other outlets.

In terms of the book itself we are pretty much ready to go. All of the drawings and the map have been completed and we are currently finalising the design and layout for the book so that it is ready to go to print once we have the funds. We are hoping to have the book printed in time for Christmas so the main challenge is to secure these funds quickly via this Pozible campaign. We have already been receiving some great interest and feedback - so thank you in advance for making this project pozible!
