PROJECT BACKGROUND

I have just been accepted into the 2013 Australian Indigenous Fashion Week Design Program.

I am one out of twelve successful applicants that will enter into a design program that has been developed
to assist Indigenous artists and designers to further develop their fashion design, business and marketing skills through carefully structured classes with industry experts. This program will be a collective series of workshops delivered in two selected locations from April 2013 to March 2014.

At the completion of this Design program, the designers will:

• - be better equipped with design, business and marketing skills;
• - be able to produce high quality indigenous designs and products;
• - be educated in Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP) rights frameworks;
• - have the qualifications to be indigenous business owners and potential new clients for Indigenous Business Australia's Business Loan; and
  
• - have the opportunity to show approved key items produced as part of the runway collection for the 2014 Australian Indigenous Fashion Week.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Set up costs for Indigenous Upcycled Fashion Label and journey to Sydney for Australian Indigenous Fashion WEEK in 2014.

The Australian fashion scene doesn't know whats going to hit it next year when it launches the first inaugural event. This fashion week will reveal Australia's up and coming Indigenous designers from across the nation.

The event will feature over 30 designers, artists and performers, the Australian Indigenous Fashion Week exhibits more than just original designs and products. The event will showcase a broad spectrum of Indigenous culture, filling Sydney with cultural performances, tourism experiences and visual art. 

AARLI is an emerging Perth based upcycled fashion label. It can be tough getting a business started, let alone getting your label noticed!

But I have been given an amazing opportunity to represent Western Australia and I want this opportunity to extend my reach to broader audiences and become noticed nationally or even internationally!

I want to make this opportunity into reality and a future career, AARLI endeavors to engage new supporters and audiences to help make this happen. I need help to find start up fundings to begin this journey to Sydney!
