We are Tinpan Orange.

We are an independent band from Melbourne, Australia in our tenth year of playing together all ready to release our fifth album.

Emily: I am the lead singer/songwriter. I create and knit and dream big.


Jesse: I play rhythm guitar and keep it real. I’m also Emily’s older brother.


Alex: I am the musical genius. I stay up all night at music festivals talking philosophy to the guy with the weird instrument.



Why another folk album? 

The thing is we love to make music and over the years we have built a pretty serious and nourishing relationship with our fans. It’s a pretty solid two-way stream where we make the music and play it live and our fans come and see us play and buy our music. And then we start all over again.



We've recorded about half the album already with our close friends and musical collaborators: Daniel Farugia (Missy Higgins, Angus and Julia Stone), Jules Pascoe (The Jazz Party, Clairy Brown and the Bangin Rackettes) and Harry James Angus (The Cat Empire).

So, here we are in the studio...recording Leopards.  


We even got some of our good friends Husky, Gids (from HUSKY) and Ceci (Oh Mercy!) to come and help out with some harmonies.

We want to give you the chance to be part of this album's birth story by asking for your support 
in advance so that we can make the album we want to make and we want you to have.

There are so many things to consider when making an album. 

We need more money if we are going to be able to choose the cover we want, and get the songs
recorded the way we want, in the quality we want, in the way we want (ie sweatshop free and made from organic and lovely materials) and the merch we want and the razzle dazzle that will make our music seem even better! ;) 


It’s going to be a killer album and you will be able to play it on your record player this time.

We are having it mixed by Portland  mixer 'our king of folk', Adam Selzer, (M.Ward, Jolie Holland, Joanna Newson)
and he’s going to help to make our album sound beautiful.

And like our mother always said "If you are going to do something, do it properly!"

That includes the way you hold a rabbit.
