Hi, we're the Voltaire Twins - Tegan and Jaymes.



We've been making music together for most of our adult lives. In that time, we've played festivals like Groovin the Moo and Laneway Festival, toured supporting bands like Born Ruffians and San Cisco, played at SXSW and CMJ in the US, and released three EPs.



Now we're releasing our very first full-length album, Milky Waves.



It's been a long process getting to this point. In 2013 we quit our jobs in Perth, moved to Melbourne and spent a year and a half writing and recording the album. We set up our own studio and wrote and demoed enough material for two albums, then picked our favourite tracks. We experimented with as many new sounds and genres as we could. We didn't rush anything and we devoted every spare moment, full-time, to its creation.



We then recorded the album with producer Anna Laverty (Cut Copy, New Gods) and Steven Schram (San Cisco, Little Red) mixed it. It was mastered by Steve Smart at Studios 301 in Sydney and is ready to be pressed to vinyl by a local plant in Melbourne. The amazing artwork was created by We Buy Your Kids in Sydney.

Putting this together was the happiest experience a band could ever have. We worked with the best team and it was a really special collaborative effort.

The finished product is a glittery, warm explosion of analog synths, big 70s drums and guilty pleasures. We couldn't be happier with how it sounds, but now we need your help to get it out there!

We are releasing this album digitally and on vinyl through our own label - OORAGNAK - and MGM distribution. Since we're self-releasing, there are significant costs involved, including PR, vinyl pressing, printing, packaging and postage. 

We've spent a lot of money on recording, mixing and mastering so far, as well as costs associated with servicing two singles.

We're asking for $6000 which will be broken down like this:
$2800 - A dedicated team of print, online and radio publicists who will service the album to print publications, radio stations and blogs. This also comes with additional costs such creating promo CDs for radios, postage etc.
$3000 - Pressing 300 copies of the album to vinyl. Expenses here include the actual manufacturing and stock, cover printing, packaging and assembly, as well as creating download cards to put in the records
$200- Postage -  we have to get those records distributed around the country, and postage is a killer when you're self-releasing

As you can see, it's only a tiny bit of what it costs to put out an album! So any money raised over the target amount will go into aditional advertising - posters, online ads, print ads, whatever we can afford. The more we raise, the more advertising and promotion we'll be able to place, and the more people we'll be able to share it with.

The album is finished and ready to go - the only tricky part is getting it out there! As long as we meet our goal, this album is happening and will be in your ears in August!
