Translucent Duo (Bernard Lagana and David Lockeridge) have a passion for performing new music that pushes the musical and physical boundaries of their instruments! The duo have been creating and developing their evolving, unique brand of performance art; engaging audiences through virtuosity and energy

Translucent Duo are commissioning and recording 3 new Australian works, including a double concerto. The aim of this project is to create and record some really wonderful new music – adding to the already fantastic work being created in the Australian new music scene!
The Composers and their pieces:
Alex Chilvers is currently completing his Masters of Composition and will be writing for the Duo and Saxophone Professor at Sydney Conservatorium of Music – Michael Duke.
Danielle Barry holds a Bachelor of Composition and spent a lot of her studies focusing on the Electro-accoustic medium. Danielle’s piece will use her wealth of skills in this field for the duo – entering new and exciting territory!
Steven Kreamer: Steven holds a Bachelor of Composition and will be composing the duo a Double concerto for the Duo and Symphony Orchestra.

Recording:
This will be split into 2 projects:
Album: Translucent Duo will be including Alex’s and Danielle’s pieces on their album they are planning on releasing in December 2015!
Concerto: The concerto will be recorded separately at its premiere in 2016

Alex Chilvers -
Composer:
Alex Chilvers (born 1985) began studying composition in 2009 and, since then, has had his music performed and awarded both domestically and abroad. He recently participated in both the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra Composers' School and the Soundstream Collective Emerging Composers' Forum. His music explores the ways in which centuries of tradition can continue to influence contemporary works. He is currently undertaking postgraduate studies with Michael Smetanin in Sydney and recently studied with Polish composer Aleksander Lasoń in Katowice.
Danielle Barry –
Composer Danielle is a Sydney-based composer with an interest in experimental electronic music. In 2010, Danielle was awarded The Women’s College Music Scholarship, enabling her to commence her Composition studies at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, which she completed, with 1st class Honours in 2013. During her time at the Conservatorium, she studied under Matthew Hindson, Ivan Zavada, Miriama Young and David Kim-Boyle. Her studies have led her to many exciting opportunities including performances in the 15 Minutes of Fame competition in New York and the Sydney Fringe Festival. Thriving through collaborative work, Danielle has written for theater, small ensembles, short film and dance. Listen to her works at
Steven Kreamer -
Composer:
Steven is a Sydney based musician and composer working predominantly in theatre and cabaret. Steven completed his degree at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music studying a Bachelor of Music (Honours) in Composition in 2013. His tutors have included Paul Stanhope, Matthew Hindson, Rosalind Page and Michael Smetanin as well as an internship with Jessica Wells. During these studies Steven has had pieces workshopped with the Goldner String Quartet, Pieter Wispelway and composer Stephen Lias as well as numerous performances and workshops with various Sydney Conservatorium of Music ensembles and the Ku-ring-gai Philharmonic Orchestra. He was awarded the Doris Burnett-Ford scholarship and the 2012 Sarah Theresa Makinson Prize for Musical Composition for his String Quartet.

Cameron Hissey -
Recording Engineer:
High energy hands-on professional with a successful record of accomplishments both within IT and Audio Engineering Industries. Experience in Solution Design, as well as training and working with large budgets in high-stress environments. Major strengths include strong leadership, exemplary written and verbal communication skills as well as strong supervisory skills including training, conflict management and other administrative tasks. A strong asset with a powerful relentless drive to succeed.
With your generously donated funds, we will be able to offer the composers on this project appropriate remuneration for their time, skills and talents.
We also require some funding to help with recording costs.

Translucent Duo see creating and performing new music as incredibly important in Australian music culture. With this in mind, the principal challenge is sourcing appropriate remuneration for the composers involved in this project. Through crowdfunding, this challenge can be eliminated as the composers will receive their deserved fee for creating something really fantastic!
