Hosted by artist run initiative EXIST and curated by Rebecca Cunningham and Nicola Morton,
exist-ence is Brisbane’s premiere international festival dedicated to the presentation of live art, performance art and action art.

For the first time since the inaugural event in 2008, exist-ence will include not only a festival, conference and symposium, but will expand to hold satellite interstate events in both Melbourne (a is for atlas) and Sydney (PACT).

Starting in Brisbane, exist-enceoffers an international residency at the Queensland College of Art Project Gallery. This is followed by a two conference and symposia and three day performance festival. International and local artists will then travel south for events hosted by Melbourne’s a is for atlas and to Sydney’s PACTCentre for Emerging Artists.

EXIST is supporting 4 international artists to arrive into Brisbane – then sending 2 international artists and 2 local artists to both Melbourne and Sydney to present works and meet with local artists.
EXIST has been lucky enough to receive some funding from the Brisbane City Council (Creative Sparks)

However to make this event great and get artists to Melbourne and Sydney, we need your help. Please assist us by donating to our Pozible campaign… the money will be used for artist’s travel costs and the printing of our catalogue.

exist-ence illuminates Live Art practice, building long term links between Australian and international independent artists and researchers, whilst offering new and developing Brisbane audiences the opportunity to experience a stimulating and challenging program. Live Art performance, discourse, debate and discussion, creative development exchange, installation and exhibition are the key elements. The festival itself is FREE so imagine this as your ticket fee.

International artists including Henrik Hedinge (Sweden) Labanna Babalon (USA), Peter Baren (Holland), John G Boehme (Canada) will be premiering work alongside Australian artists Julie Vulcan, James Cunningham, Jade Boyd, Dracopede, Sari Kivinen, Onnie Art, and more.
