Robowars tournaments have been run all over Australia for the last 10yrs. Builders construct combat robots from metal, power tools and remote control toy parts to build the ultimate fighting machine.

We have run events all over Australia however this year we have been invited to put on a show at the Vivid Festival. We plan to make this one of our biggest events yet but we can only do it with your help. We have the venue organised the robots are under construction but we need your help to get the arena there and make the event happen.

Robowars Sydney will take place at the Cargo Hall, Overseas Passenger Terminal, Circular Quay on the 30th of May from 3pm to 11pm. The event will feature Sportsman Featherweight (13.6kg) robots which will be fighting to be the Australian Sportsman Champion. The Sportsman class is a modified version of the Featherweight class which encourages creative and innovative designs. We will also have some of our full combat robots from the Nationals there to settle a few grudges.

Help us make the event possible and come enjoy the day.

How The Funds Will Be Used

The funds will be used to transport the arena to NSW and cover the administration of the event. The event will be run by the Queensland Robotics Sports Club and we are a strictly non-profit organisation. We rely on volunteers to help run our competitions and we do it because we love to build robots.

Your pledge will help us cover our expenses for the event. These include:
•     Transporting our arena from QLD to NSW.
•     Public Liability Insurance.
•     Equipment Hire: Tables, PA, Seating, ect.
•     Arena Maintenance.

The Challenges

The logistics with transporting 2 tonne of arena from QLD to NSW poses a challenge as we are a small club. We have planned the trip down, organised quotes for truck hire and recruited volunteers to do the drive. We have scheduled time to allow for any complications and stopovers for the volunteers.

Keeping robots running can be a challenge, as they are trying to destroy each other after all. This can lead to delays between battles and slow down the show. To help keep the combat coming we have some of the featherweights from last years nationals to put on a show between the rounds. These are grudge matches which haven't yet been settled and are sure to be destructive. We are also bringing a range of BotBitz demo robots which will be on display and available to drive for a select few lucky attendees.
