We are Western Australia's leading youth theatre company creating edgy, visceral and compelling theatre by and for people under 27. We give young talented performers the opportunity to be in a professionally supported show with directors and designers from the theatre industry. This is an amazing opportunity for them to practise and present their talents and abilities with the support of emerging and established professionals in the field.
We are a not-for-profit theatre company, a registered charity and have been making theatre for over 21 years in Perth. Our patron Tim Minchin speaks eloquently of the work that we do in the above video.
Producing this kind of work isn't cheap. We go to great lengths NOT to cut corners in the making of the work, as each and every time we aim to make something extraordinary - something that will profoundly affect not only the actors, but also the audiences.
This year we are producing 'Another Twin' by Lally Katz. This is the Australian Premiere of a new work by an award winning playwright. Directing is Kirsty Hillhouse, our new Artistic Director and a theatre artist of local reknown, a founding member of Legs on the Wall - an internationally famous Australian physical theatre collective. Composing the music and songs are Late Night Shopping a local musical collaboration of Nikki Jones and Shaun Salmon. Designing the set and lighting are Lauren Ross and Joe Lui, both extremely talented emerging professional theatre designers. The play will be presented at the Dolphin Theatre - a beautifully laid out venue on the campus of the University of Western Australia, privately hired by WAYTCo for this production.
We have raised thousands of dollars from public and private sources for our program of activities, including this production, but even then we run on a skeleton staff and put as much of the funding as we can into improving the quality of the production. Whether we succeed with this bid or not we will make a stunning piece of theatre, but we'd like you to make it even better!
Any donation above two dollars which claims 'no reward' will become a tax-deductible donation and receive a receipt from us to that effect.
