An Australian premier of Jimmy Chinn's play 'A Different Way Home'.
A Different Way Home is a touching play conveying the need for families to communicate and how, in an ideal world, love and affection would transcend prejudice. This unusual and poignant comedy centres around a brother and sister and how their inability to communicate leaves them unable to reconcile their long standing differences, even when faced with a family tragedy.

The themes that are explored include; Prejudice, The isolation of carers, The fear of change, Sibling rivalry, The coping strategies in times of loss and grief, and the resilient human spirit in extremely challenging times.
A Different Way Home was originally a one act play, Jimmi Chinn added what is now the second act to demonstrate the other side of the central relationship that the play is about. In its revised form one male actor plays both male and female characters.
Jimmi Chinn was an actor and most notably a playright. He was born in Middleton, Lancashire and moved to London in 1959. He trained as an actor at RDA. His short and very undistinguished career as an actor led him eventually to train as a teacher, gaining a degree in English and Drama. He taught and was a housemaster at a comprehensive school in Middlesex, until becoming a full-time writer in 1984.
Accomplished artist Michael Dalton will play both characters, Leslie and Maureen.
Gavin Macleod, Production Manager and Zoe Warwick, Director.
A Different Way Home will be presented as part of Seniors Week in October 2015 in the main room at
Chapel Off Chapel.

To stage this production we need seed funding, our planned spend is $20,000 but here on pozible we are looking to raise $8,000 to 10,000 to cover the following costs:
- Performance Rights
- Set Design and Construction
- Make Up and Special Effects
- Lighting
- Sound
- Costuming
- Props
To deliver on these key areas we are bringing in some of Melbourne’s best designers, artists and technicians.
Anything above our initial goal will be used for additional costs, technicians, stage crew, venue costs and our marketing/publicity plan. We have also applied for in-kind funding via The City of Stonnington and Chapel Off Chapel.
We are an experienced team of professionals but needless to say no production is without its challenges, the biggest challenge for us is finance - to combat this challenge we have also applied for in-kind funding through Stonnington Council and we are in the process of seeking corporate sponsorship.
For this project we are partnering with Annecto, a non-profit community inclusion organisation, Annecto works with individuals and families requiring advice, advocacy and support at all stages of their lives.
