My name is Sophie Cogs and I am the human behind GOOLiFE. I believe in creating sustainable, ethical, expressive, innovative fashion and I have created this pozible in order to help me unleash my fashion creations upon the world!



GOOLiFE is the fashion label I started in January of this year. It has been an amazing year of learning how to run a business and really putting myself out there. Right now, I am working towards launching my next collection at the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival (VAMFF) in March 2015.



Having my label in VAMFF is an incredible opportunity for me to really bring GOOLiFE to the next level and gain more exposure for the brand so that I might be better positioned in the ultra competitive fashion industry.



A little about me, my ethos and my history in fashion:

I graduated from RMIT with a High Distinction average in 2012. Since then I have been travelling, researching and designing in preparation for launching my brand. I have also been refining my aesthetic and searching for the best way to innovatively introduce ethical and sustainable practices into a new and growing business.



During my studies I became increasingly disenchanted with the fashion industry. The more I learnt about it the more I thought that I don’t want to be part of an industry which values a dollar sign more highly than the ethical treatment of humans, animals and the environment.



Eventually I realized that there must be a better way of doing things, a more sustainable option. And that’s what inspired me to start GOOLiFE! I want to create a company which actively strives to find the most innovative ways to incorporate sustainable practice into the working structure of the business.



My goals for the future include GOOLiFE being a succesful example of how to run an ethical fashion label. I would like to be in a position where I can share my knowledge and help other businesses do the same thing.

I need this money to help make the new collection which I will be releasing at “Perfect”, a fashion, wearable and live art spectacle showcase as part of the VAMFF cultural program in March 2015.  https://www.facebook.com/events/1562785263934246/?...



I will be producing the whole collection sustainably and ethically.  Where possible I will be using locally made fabrics. These fabrics will then be printed locally by an ethical print studio in Sydenham and then the garments will be constructed in my studio in Northcote.



After this collection I plan to continue growing the business and further my research into sustainable/ethical production methods with the hope of making this an easy, affordable option for other business striving to be sustainable and ethical.



The $5000 will cover the cost of fabric, printing, production and most of the costs associated with putting on a runway show.
