The story of the project 10 x 10 is a group of Australian based young professionals and creatives who wanted to fight apathy and create a culture of giving within our communities.

THIS IS THE PROBLEM.
There are thousands of charities, not for profits & social enterprises – how do you know where to start?
How do you know where your money’s going?
I don’t have enough time to find out what’s out there, let alone whether they’re legit.
I’m not a millionaire so how can I make a difference?

THIS IS THE 10 X 10 SOLUTION.
We’ve picked out three organisations which we think are changing things up in how they’re working on complicated social issues in our communities.
We’ve done the due diligence on them so we know they are of a scale where our collective contribution will make an impact – and that your funds will be fully leveraged to bring about social change.
We’re bringing 100 people together, each contributing $100 - so that your $100 is going to turn into $10,000 (at least!).
And all the costs of putting on the event have been covered by our sponsors so that every dollar will go directly to the organisations.

The Co-Chairs of the Melbourne chapter are:
Finn Kelly
Zoe Warne

The organising committee is:
Amy Chamberlain
Grace Richards
Jordan Hooper
Leila Anderson
Lucy Richards
Nitha Prakash
Robert Humann
Tim Charleson
Tommy Sim
Joanne Dennison
Socrates Capouleas
Meike Suggars

THESE ARE THE THREE ORGANISATIONS WE ARE SUPPORTING.

How The Funds Will Be Used

1. Your ‘buy-in’ to come along is $100. You pre-pay this on Pozible, one of Australia’s leading crowdfunding websites, and get a confirmation of your contribution. The pooled funds are held securely by Pozible.
2. When you arrive on the night, you’ll get your $100 back in the form of charity dollars to allocate to any of the three organisations over the course of the event. Each organisation has a jar to collect charity dollars.
3. Each of the three organisations will have 5 minutes to deliver their pitch in the style of the popular UK TV show, the Dragons Den. They’ll be pitching to you and the crowd, and to our resident dragons.
4. The Dragons will question each organisation about their pitch and business model.
5. When all the pitches are done, you drop your charity dollars into the jar of the organisation (or organisations) who you loved the most. If you want to give more than your $100 on the night, you will be able to to do so if you’re really inspired by the organisations and we’ll give you instructions on how to do so.
6. The pooled funds will then be distributed to the organisations based on the tallied up contributions.

MEET OUR DRAGONS.
Mark Cubit - Planet Wheeler Foundation
After 15 years at the same firm, Mark retired as a Managing Director of Merrill Lynch - he had enough money but not enough ideas of what he would do next. Gradually the picture formed and he found himself in the not-for-profit sector.

He did his ‘undergraduate degree’ in philanthropy by volunteering three days a week at The Smith Family and spending time on boards of two Australian charities. The ‘post grad degree’ in philanthropy has been earned as he established a family foundation with his wife Amanda in 2005, and then in 2008 established the Planet Wheeler Foundation for Maureen and Tony Wheeler, founders of Lonely Planet. The two foundations support over 60 projects around the world- although Planet Wheeler is by far the larger of the two. Mark is also chairman of the International board of The School of St Jude.

His passions include family (one wife, two daughters), running (15 marathons), travel (54 countries), Hawthorn Football Club (11 premierships) and watching progress in the developing world (ongoing project).

Michael Brosowski - Blue Dragon
Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation is an Australian charity working in Vietnam with children in crisis - street kids, children from rural families living in extreme poverty and victims of human trafficking and slavery. Our primary aim is to rescue kids from danger, reunite them with their families whenever possible, and provide all the services needed to recover and grow
