My name is Georgia Fields, I’m an independent pop musician.
Over the past four years, I have been writing, refining, polishing and sharpening a new batch of songs. Inspired by ancient myths, newspaper articles, folklore stories, and my own personal roller-coaster ride through the emotional theme park of life, these ten tracks will form my second album, ‘Astral Debris’. The title refers to the aftermath of a cosmic explosion, as well as the universal star matter we are all made of.
I have been performing the album live for a year or so, accompanied by my stellar band and string section, and have been absolutely overwhelmed by the positive response the songs have received from audiences so far.
Last year I was introduced to Tim Shiel, a brilliantly talented electronic music producer and multi-instrumentalist. Under the name Faux Pas, Tim released several albums and EPs of kaleidoscopic, psychedelic home-made electronica. Tim has worked with Bertie Blackman, Caitlin Park, Flight Facilities, and also toured the world as a key member of Gotye's band as keyboardist and Ableton tech.
Tim’s musical world is light-years away from the chamber-folk of my indie-orchestral debut album… Which is why working with him has been so exciting. The collision of worlds has yielded a completely new sound for me – a cosmic shimmer and electro punch coupled with the pluck and flutter of organic strings, voices and drums.
Our first musical experiment, ‘Hood and the Hunter’, will be the album’s lead single, due for release Monday 2 July. We haven’t quite finished it yet, but go on – take a sneak peek!

‘Astral Debris’ will feature a combination of live and programmed drums, electronic samples, and studio performances from my most favourite Melbourne musicians… And YOU can help us bring it into reality.

from this campaign will go towards the cost of recording ‘Astral Debris’.
Studio time, engineer and producer fees = $8,760
Musician fees = $3,640
TOTAL = $12,400
Yep, I’m aware that figure is more than my Pozible goal – I’m putting in a bunch of my own hard-earned cash too!
If we are lucky enough to exceed our Pozible goal of $10,000, the additional funds will go towards the album release – manufacturing, advertising, music videos, and touring.

The Challenges
One of the biggest
challenges for an independent artist releasing original music is finding a way
for people to hear it. This is why I am thrilled to be working with Remedy
Music on the release of ‘Astral Debris’.
Emma and Danae are publicity dynamos, and their professional expertise and
enthusiasm will help me through every step of the release process, so the album
can come out in the best possible way.
As well as campaigning on Pozible, I am applying for grants, and saving all my pennies from various nannying/teaching/retail jobs, to make sure I’m doing everything I can to make the album the best it can be.
