So ….what's this Pozible campaign all about?
Well,   ……..I'm really hoping you can support me in making a beautiful audio and photographic document of my musical instrument inventions.  I'm planning a special CD / book recording 12 of my unique self made and invented single reed instruments (such as Mr and Mrs Curly).
Over the last 27 years I have invented and made dozens of wind instruments such as the Saxillo, the gaidanet, the watering can clarinet and the carrot clarinet, Mr and Mrs Curly (contra bass clarinets), Crow (a narrow bore bass clarinet made from Crows Ash) and dozens of variously tuned clarinis (keyless clarinets). Most recently I've created a clarinet from my Norwegian Great Great Grandfather's smoking pipe, that I only received a few months ago.

In the project - "MRS CURLY and the NORWEGIAN SMOKING PIPE" I want to feature 12 of these instruments by recording an album  that puts these instruments Centrestage. Although I play these instruments in various projects they never have been properly featured and this project will do just that. This is an opportunity to record each of these instruments playing in an ensemble that will include various instruments such as percussion, bass, oud and cello. There will be one audio track and one photo for each instrument. The recorded tracks will be included in a gorgeous CD / book set that will include full page photos of each instrument.



My featured wind instruments are:
1.  & 2. 
Mrs Curly (a narrow bore spiral contra bass clarinet) and "Donna" (a narrow bore curly bass clarinet). Both these instruments are made from glass and were a collaboration with glass artisan Arnie Fuchs. Here's Mrs Curly:

Naturally I have to include the Carrot Clarinet (a clarinet made from a carrot):

The Saxillo - the instrument I have spent the most time perfecting over many years. It's like a soprano sax made from wood, with no keys, and was inspired by the Hungarian tarogato:

Then there is Mr Curly (a contra bass clarinet made from garden hose. He went viral on YouTube a while ago:






6. & 7.
I will also use two clarinis: one made from an Australian acacia - Gidgee; and another narrow bore clarini in aluminium:




8. "Crow" is also a narrow bore bass clarinet, but made from wood (Crows Ash), using a router to create a very curly bore:




9. 10. &  11.

Finally there is the Norwegian Smoking Pipe. This is the most recent instrument and was made from the pipe owned by my Great great grandfather (the Norwegian sailor Jorgen Hermann Ludvigsen). It's so recent I don't have any photos or clips yet.

Funds raised through Pozible will be used for:

Musicians' fees - $9300

Studio time - recording, mixing and mastering - $4200

CD Manufacturing, artwork, photography - $3500

The only real challenge to this project is raising the money to pay the musicians that will join me, as well as the recording, mixing mastering and production costs. So hopefully you can help with that.
