In my years of growing up, I’ve always observed my father’s culinary obsessions, and how he meekly prepares food for our family dinner every Sunday, where my sisters, their spouses and my niece will return to the family home. It is always a blissful occasion where the household comes to life with joy and laughter.
I want to translate these slices of life into a short film that depicts an intimate portrait of a father who tirelessly prepares this weekly meal for his children. When the dinner comes to a close and his children leaves, he will carefully refrigerate the leftover rice that he will use to make fried rice the following day.
Week after week, days translate into months and then years. The father grows old and the daughter comes of age. One day, she knows that she will have to follow the steps of her sisters and leave the house. One day, the story will come to an end.
My Father After Dinner.

This is a universal story about father and daughters, familial relationships that transcends cultures and language. I hope this short film can speak to the hearts of people beyond the small island state of Singapore, and I certainly need your support to get this film made!
How The Funds Will Be Used

Filmmaking is a collaborative art form, involving talents from diverse disciplines: writers, musicians, set designers, camera technicians, and the list goes on. In an independent outfit like My Father After Dinner, we rely a lot on friendship and selfless passion to drive the production; but with a substantial budget, we will also be able to go a further mile by providing adequate remunerations for these creative professionals. This will go a long way in providing a conducive, sustainable environment for the production of art and culture.
With an adequate budget, we will also be able to ensure that the film can be made with better equipments, and our post production be done in better facilities, so that when we finally present the film in the cinema halls, we’re able to give the audiences the best of what we were able to achieved.
