Matthew Mitcham's Twists & Turns
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Be part of Matthew Mitcham's debut cabaret show!
The young man who made Olympic history, captured the imagination of the world, and was beamed around the planet as the first diver in Games history to score a perfect 10-points from all judges remains celebrated as an Australian celebrity and national sporting icon.
Away from the spotlight, Matthew has always fostered a talent for performance, an accomplished singing voice and mean musicianship on his beloved ukelele.
Surrounded now by the very best creative team, his autobiography Twists and Turns has become a stage show that invite audience members to join him in the twists and turns and up and downs of his young rollercoaster life.
There will be incredible songs, moments of insight, foot-tapping fun and a few surprises.
Matt invites you to meet the man behind the legend.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On 23 August 2008, a young Australian athlete made Olympic history.
Coming from 30 points behind, and on his final dive, he scored 112.10 to shock himself and the diving world and rob the Chinese of a full sweep of Olympic diving gold medals.
On that day Matthew Mitcham OAM became Australia's first male diving Olympic gold medallist since 1924, and the only diver ever in Olympic history, to produce a perfect 10 point score from all judges - winning the 2008 Beijing Olympics 10m platform title.

Matthew has recently released his autobiography Twists and Turns, which reveals a life behind the international spotlight that has been plagued by low self-esteem, anxiety and depression, panic attacks and repeated self-harm as a teenager, leading on to drug abuse.
Based on his book of the same name, and told with the honesty and courage he is admired for, this live production of Twists and Turns is an inspiring story of a true champion – in and out of the pool.
Away from the diving pool Matthew is a talented singer and musician, who invites you to share the highs and lows of his incredible life through theatre and song, along with a few surprises, a bit of foot tapping and loads of inspiration, in the premiere season of his first solo show.

If we reach the target before Christmas day we'll commit to emailing you a voucher before 25 December so you can wrap it in time.
How The Funds Will Be Used
It's a hot creative team, terrific story and great talent, but we need funds to get this tour happening. All funds raised are crucial to pay for things you need before you actually start the tour: airfares and accommodation chief among them.
Matthew's vision for the show is that it tours as far and wide as possible, to take his inspiring story across the nation and possibly overseas.
We've set the pozible campaign target at $3,500 but obviously we need much more than that, so pre-sale tickets and other perks are still on sale even after the target was reached.

Update 18/12: Creative Partnerships Australia – which assists organisations such as ours to grow philanthropic and commercial funding support for their arts activities – intends to match your funding!
We applied to their new scheme to fund a development resource for the Melbourne Cabaret Festival to work on gaining the ongoing support we need to broaden our touring reach of Matthew’s show and others, without relying on heavily competitive and uncertain government arts funding.
The Creative Partnership program under which we have applied will match money we have raised, dollar for dollar.
Creative Partnerships Australia has told us that they will consider any amounts raised through crowd-funding above our original tour budget for Twists and Turns as possibly eligible for this matched funding, providing we inform you that this is what the excess funds will be used for.
As Matthew promised in the video, our aim is to bring the show to a city near you. Having a development resource committed to building sound financial backing for our touring program will see this happen all the sooner.
The Challenges
We are extremely confident we have drawn together the right team of people who are completly committed to this new Australian work.
