What happens when your dream car doesn’t exist? You have to build it.
Nigel Petrie’s story is a captivating snapshot into the personal challenges one man faces when he undertakes the project of his lifetime. I've been working alongside Nigel through this build and already produced “BEHIND Nigel Petrie” https://vimeo.com/74275452 the mini documentary about how the “ETS Drift Ute” came to be. With the build now finished and a new chapter unfolding this Pozible campaign is making steps to show you the challenges Nigel has faced in the quest to drive this Ute how he intended.
With the 2.5 year build behind him Nigel took his creation up to Sydney to debut it in an action packed event , a major failure in testing the night before showed the despair and heartache Nigel endured over the weekend, once home again Nigel has spent a month repairing the drivetrain and equipping the Ute with what he believes to be a reliable setup.
With only a handful of days before the Ute gets loaded into a container bound for New Zealand our only chance to finish this documentary will be overseas, for this we ask you for donations so that we can hire the gear we need to capture the footage you need to see. Your donation will be the “Drive” in “Dream Build Drive” its up to you to help us finish what is set to be a stunning documentary on how Nigel faces and overcomes the challenges in his quest to complete his project and show the world what its capable of.
How The Funds Will Be Used
We'll be using the funds for camera gear hire. We really won't to up the production values for the project while over in New Zealand. We want to hire high speed cameras so we can capture the Ute drifting in super slow-mo. So If all goes well, we'll be looking to hire gear such as the Red Epic, Sony FS700 or the Phantom. We also won't to capture some arial footage, so we'll need to hire a Drone and a drone operator whilst over there. We're also looking at jib hire and of course just general expenses such as travel.
We would also love to get an Audio Recordist to NZ so we can capture the sounds of drifting at a really high standard. When we hit post-production we'll need to get the Audio Mixed by a sound engineer and the music composed by a composer which all costs money. Remember if we can blow this budget up then we can also blow this production up! Next level is where we want to be.

The Challenges
Well the big one is if the ute breaks down again. If that were to happen we wouldn't have the ending we're hoping to capture for the film. Some of the challenges I feel will be in the editorial stage in piecing the story together and making a captivating and entertaining documentary. With that said thats a challenge I'm looking forward to take on.
