After months of lugging her backpack around the world, Carolyn finds herself taking the long road to South America, wondering just where the hell her mojo has gone?

Travel was meant to be the answer...

In Buenos Aires, with the help of a wise (and insistent) old woman and the tango dancers that inhabit the ancient streets, Carolyn has a chance to discover the wonders of the dance - and also the vital importance of the right underwear!

Tango Underpants is based on a short story 'Brief Encounter' written by Carolyn Swindell.  It has been adapted for the screen by John Collee, screenwriter of HAPPY FEET and MASTER AND COMMANDER.

THE STAR

Emma Booth will soon appear in Taylor Hackford’s feature Parker, with Jason Statham and Jennifer Lopez. Emma’s other feature credits include Joel Schumacher’s Blood Creek, Karl Golden’s Pelican Blood, Scott Hicks’The Boys Are Back opposite Clive Owen, and as ‘Germaine Greer’ in the Working Title feature, Hippie Hippie Shake opposite Cillian Murphy and Sienna Miller. 

Most recently, she was seen alongside Jason Clarke and David Lyons in Craig Lahiff’s Swerve. Emma made her feature film debut in Cherie Nowlan’s Clubland, which premiered at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival. Her performance in the film earned her the Best Supporting Actress Award at the 2007 Australian Film Institute Awards and the Film Critics Circle of Australia Awards, and the Best Australian Newcomer at the 2008 Movie Extra Filmink Awards. Emma’s television credits include Tim Winton’s Cloudstreet, Underbelly: The Golden Mile, Rowan Woods’ ABC miniseries Three Acts Of Murder, The Shark Net, Small Claims, The Circuit, All Saints and the ABC telemovie Jack Irish: Bad Debts with Guy Pearce.

THE FILM MAKERS

Hot new talent, brother and sister directing team of Khrob Edmonds and Miranda Edmonds, have made two short films together that have played at festivals around the world - the films can be viewed at www.cottesloefilms.com. We believe that TANGO UNDERPANTS will propel them to the next stage of their careers.

Executive Producers Stephen Van Mil - producer of the upcoming feature THE DROWNER (being co-produced with Mel Gibson) and Tania Chambers, former CEO of ScreenWest and Screen NSW and Buenos Aires-based producer Agustina Costa, along with internationally-acclaimed writer, John Collee will complement this team.

Award-winning West Australian-based cinematographer Denson Baker ACS (ORANGES AND SUNSHINE, THE WAITING CITY and THE BLACK BALLOON) and photographers Tungsten, Erick and Ian Regnard (2010 International Photo Awards 2010 winners), are also bringing their fine skills to TANGO UNDERPANTS.

This is just the beginning of the dedicated and talented team we are putting together to ensure this project is delivered to the highest possible standard. We hope it will be the first of many films we work on together.

THE BUDGET - IT'S A RACE!

We are on a mission to raise $25,000 for the film - pronto!

Astoundingly, if we achieve that goal, we will qualify to secure $3 for every $1 under ScreenWest's 3-to-1 Crowdfunding Initiative*, creating a grand budget of $100,000.

If we raise the $25,000, and others have already secured the ScreenWest matched funding, our current team will collaborate with talent from a WA film school to ensure the film is made. What they lack in experience will be made up for in enthusiasm. Either way, we are determined to bring this film to the screen for YOU!

* subject to ScreenWest's Initiative criteria and availability of funds.

HOW YOUR SUPPORT WILL HELP

Whilst many of the cast and crew are giving much of their time and skills to the project there are still costs associated with making a short film that we need to meet - especially as we have an overseas element to our shoot.  Your pledge will contribute to the myriad of expenses including equipment hire, accommodation, location permits, music rights, post production and catering, - all essential to bringing this playful story to the screen.
